Shot-by-shot comparison of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" vs. scenes from 30 different adventure films made between 1919-1973.



I don't think there's any implication of theft, it's just interesting how common the visual themes of an adventure movie are. And Spielberg did a masterful job of wrapping them all up.

Well, Indiana Jones was always intended to be a throwback to those old pulp adventures. It makes sense that Spielberg would pay homage in this way.

It would have been nice if the maker of the video labeled which movies he or she was showing next to Raiders. It's really cool, but it sucks not giving credit and it kind of sucks not knowing what movie it is.

Lucas did both Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies as homages to the old serials and i had the good fortune as a kid to see many of the old serials broadcast on TV. SW was of course more explicitly referencing the serials but no one familiar with the serials could miss the constant allusions to them.
