Soccer Tactics WORLD v. Champions 2020

STW is from 2006. C20 is from 2011. C20 is
an extension of Street Soccer.
Both games claim to be the best. Here are my brief thoughts.

Components:

STW - Wooden pawns and ball with prints. Round digital timer and gold trophy.
Good quality board, score dials, and big cardboard yellow and red cards.
Teams included are blue and red.
* Green and Yellow; Black and Orange, Xtra Team Sets available.

C20 - All teams, ball, score tiles, yellow and injury cards,
and board are good quality cardboard. Ball and cards are very small.
4 teams are Brasil, Argentina, Germany, and Netherlands.

Advantage: STW

Play:

STW - Pawns and ball move over squares via the die roll.
Man in motion before the pass. Direct passes.
Double passes. Capturing the ball. Challenges for the ball. Shots resolved by
a spinner or by a shooting die. Fouls, free kicks, goal kicks, corners, offsides, penalty kicks. Game seems to flow well.

What you might not like: The spinner. However the shooting die is a substitute.

C20 - Players and ball move via the die roll. Players kick the ball, and
the ball ends up on a free square. Can pass to more than one player. Game plays like SS, except for intercept rule. After almost every play the defending team can try to intercept the ball by rolling a die. Shots are resolved by keeper rolling a die, after shooter has kicked the ball. Scoring and intercept rules seem over-complicated and fiddly. Fouls, free kicks, goal kicks, corners, offsides, penalty kicks are basically the same as STW. Only difference is that the attacking team commits a foul on purpose in C20, wheras in STW a foul is determined by both teams battling for the ball.

What you might not like:
For Street Soccer fans, gone are the big wood meeples.
All the cardboard players lay flat on the board,
and are moved by your finger or picking them up and moving.
Goal keepers are in an upside down position in the goal.
Some players on your team start off the game across the midfield line.
Time moves by someone rolling a 1. Why?

Advantage: STW

Base Price:

STW - $ 20 to 25

C20 - $ 40 to 50

Advantage: STW

Well, I'm not familiar with C20 but I have StreetSoccer. The two games feel totally different. I like SS for a quick filler whereas I really appreciate how STW feels more like an actual game of soccer.

Apparently I'm not a very good shopper because my copy of STW cost $40 USD.

Regardless, thanks for the comparison. Its nice to know what else is available.

I like SS and STW too! They are the 2 best soccer games in my opinion. For the same reasons you mentioned. Did not enjoy C 2020 though, seemed to similar to STW, cheaply made and cost almost twice as much.

Remember - if you see something you want to react negatively to, flag it and forget it.

Using the icon serves two functions - first, if enough users flag a post then it will be collapsed from general view. Second, flagging posts helps bring them to the attention of the forum moderators.

Further, if you suspect someone is using alternate accounts the proper thing to do is to notify an admin. Calling them out in the forums should be avoided because there is a decent chance you might be wrong.

Thread locked. Thanks all!
