Perhaps the Alameda Naval Air Station or the Moffett Federal Air Station would be more thematically appropriate?

Spoiler (click to reveal)
Not to mention close to where I play hockey in the Bay Area.whistle

I wonder what the rates are for the O-Club at NAS Alameda. It is an event venue now that the base is no longer active. (A buddy of mine got married there and I thought it was very classy. Lots of old wood and squadron insignias on plaques.)

I what I found after a 60 second search. No phone number, but a 120 second search could probably come up with that.

Also, the Alameda Naval Air Museum is within walking distance and the USS Hornet Museum is about 17-19 blocks away.

A Bay area wargaming group (CCCwargamers) held a small con called "First Raid" at the Alameda Naval Air Museum (http://alamedanavalairmuseum.org/) last October. If someone is interested in contact info I'd be happy to pass it along.

I'm just learning the system now and guarantee I'd attend BopGun in the San Francisco area. whistle

If you need an opponent, I should be retired from the Army and back in Livermore by October!

HI Paul,

Looking forward to seeing you in October. I wish we might see you a month early for CelestiCon!

As the organizer, I'd also be happy to host BoPGun as part of CelestiCon!

Cheers,
Kris

Kris,

My retirement is planned for 31 AUG 2012 and I have some things in need of wrapping up here on the "wrong" coast before I come back so its not looking good for 2012, but I plan to be a regular attendee in the coming years!
Spoiler (click to reveal)
And thus qualify for the 'Celesticon Attendee' microbadge.

All,

I would get in on BoP Gun (or its' equivalent at any event) held in the SF Bay Area. I am even up for (trying to learn) AV:T or SITS.

Chris,
Are you near Camp Parks? I know everything in Dublin, CA is close to Parks, but not too many know it is there.
I had a few gamer buds in my unit on Parks but they were not up for trying AV:T or SIT even though one of them originally suggested I read the Honor Harrington series.shake

Maybe I should have tried to get them into BoP?

We are looking at three very different sites: near Providence, RI; Alameda,CA (from the above inspirations) and Ontario/Chino, CA. The timing will be mid-September or early October. We will be putting feelers out for these times and attendance, shortly.

Doing the mini-Con in Michigan in the future is a possibility. We used to attend UCon in Ann Arbor up until about 2001 and there are some BoP gamers in the area.

We have a preference for sites with good aviation museums nearby, as a half-day trip can spice things up. (A while back we had a crew out to LA and I took them to the Western Museum of Flight to visit the YF-23. So cool!)

Paul,

Whew. It's been a while. I also have AV:T and have played it a few times. I would be interested in playing it with you or anyone locally too. I have not looked at SITS as I never really got into the Honor Harrington series.

Cheers,
Kris

We are working to finalize a contract with the site and will make a formal announcement when this is complete. We have agreed upon the dates September 20th through 23rd and the location is near Providence, RI.

You are probably fine to take the days off, as we'll use this date even if we need to select a different site, but I wouldn't make any bookings until we get the final agreement.

What we have offered to provide scenarios and support for Birds of Prey events held by anyone with the desire and commitment to host one! We would love to support BoP-Tiger-Meet, if someone in Europe were willing to take the reigns! (I would even provide some special preview ADCs, like the Typhoon.)
