White Goblin Games in search of "men for expedition to Africa", for brand new release Congo
Get your name in a board game!

"Volunteers needed for hazardous journey". It’s with this line, the advertisement from White Goblin Games in the London Illustrated News from 1884 opens. People who are looking for real adventure and who can stand the heat and constant danger of Congo, might get their name in the new to be released board game with the same name from the Dutch publisher, which is up for release in 2012. White Goblin Games - the company that brought the world highly successful games like Rattus, Panic Station, Lost Temple, Revolver and more - is now looking for 54 adventurous people from different countries for this upcoming release.

Get your name in the game and take a chance in winning a copy

54 men. That’s what White Goblin Games needs for the hazardous journey to Congo. And from 11 different nationalities:
15 people from the UK, 15 people from France, 8 people from Germany, 8 people from Belgium, 1 person from Spain, 1 person from the Netherlands, 1 person from Portugal, 1 person from Austria, 1 person from Russia, 1 person from Sweden and 2 people from the USA, to be exactly. So what should people that are interested in this journey have to do? Go to www.facebook.com/whitegoblingames and tag yourself in the newspaper advertisement. Also leave your nationality in the comments section. On February 1st, the designer of the game, Mr. Jose Rivero, will choose the 54 men for this expedition. Those 54 persons will see their name end up in the game, on the 54 character cards. Three winners will also win a copy of the final product.

For game purposes, White Goblin Games is only looking for the nationalities as mentioned above. Is your nationality not in this list? No worries; you can still tag yourself in the picture, as White Goblin Games will also randomly give away 2 copies of the final game to people who don’t end up with their name in this game.
And White Goblin Games definitely needs men for this game. Brave men. Not women, unfortunately. Although the company would have loved to have added some brave women to this game too, back in the day - don’t forget we’re talking about 1884 - exploration and adventure were not seen as fitting roles for a Victorian woman. However, of course also women are more than welcome to take a chance on a free copy of the game.

Congo... and more
Congo is a new game in the line of successful titles like Rattus and Lost Temple. The game will come in the same box size and is up for release around Essen 2012. The game takes place in 1884. Location: Africa. The major European imperialist powers (Great Britain, France, Germany and Belgium) are busy struggling to get a piece of the cake that was colonial Africa. At first they sent missions dedicated to exploration, but this quickly changes to vying for favourable concessions, treaties and even settlements. This race for supremacy and the desire to be the first to establish a foothold in Africa, provokes an endless series of confrontations and conflicts. At the start of the game, a paddle-wheeler steamboat is about to leave Leopoldville (now Kinshasa) and to sail up the Congo River, bound for the remote village of Kindu in the heart of deepest Africa. While the travellers aboard the steamer are of many different nationalities and professions, they all share the same spirit of adventure. Each player controls a group of these travellers and must compete with their opponent’s to take command of the colonial stations found at each stop along the steamer's trip upstream. Players gain victory points for each station under their command.

Congo is not the first announced 2012 release from the Dutch publisher. Earlier, White Goblin Games already announced a 2012 release of the trick taking card game Little Devils and the highly anticipated card game Crooks. More new 2012 releases, from well-known designers like Michael Schacht and Leo Colovini to name just a few, will be announced soon.

A little note though, my given name is Dany, not Daniel. As I was supposed to be a girl my parents didn't have a boy's name. When I came out the wetnurse proposed "Robert" but it didn't work out for them. So they came up with Dany.
People called me "Danette" for years, which is a popular yogurt in France, and years later another yogurt hit the shelves called "Dany". Both are still found in shops at home.

All in all, I got my luggage packed, ready to explore !
