My brother is in a little town called Bollington in the UK for work. He said if he had time he'd look for/import a few games for me that aren't readily available in the the US. Any info on the closest/best FLGS from fellow UK BGGers that would be helpful would be greatly appreciated.

Does he game too?

There is going to be a 'gaming convention' 20 minutes from him this weekend in Stockport.

I hear Fanboy 3 may be there, which I hear is one the best one in the Manchester area. http://www.fanboy3.co.uk/

There's also Traveling Man http://www.travellingman.com/

Well I had to look the place up on a map, but the nearest quality store that I know of is a fair distance away by UK standards. However, if he has transport then a trip to Shire Games in Hanley, Stoke on Trent would be my best recommendation.

For directions go to

http://www.shiregames.com/shiregames/findus.htm

I hope that helps, although other may know of a closer game store.

As someone else has mentioned there is a gaming convention at Stockport this weekend (Stabcon). It's held at the Britannia Hotel.

http://www.britanniahotels.com/hotels/stockport?gclid=CNjhxJ...

Bollington is not far (about 5-7 miles) from the venue

Fanboy 3, who have a shop in Manchester, arrive (IIR) at the Hotel at the close of business on Friday and are there for the rest of the weekend.

Feel free to email me if you want any details

Randy - Can I ask what games you are after. My club is due it's annual auction in March

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/98845/world-famous-ann...

Although I'm mainly selling wargames, which you'll have no problem finding in the US, there will be others who will attending Stabcon who will be selling Euros at the auction. Although it would be short notice, I could email the people I know and ask if they are thinking of selling anything you are after. Then maybe your brother could do a deal with them if he can make it to Stabcon. Just a thought

Seconded Stabcon.

Fanboy3 in Manchester is closest but most of their stock will be at Stabcon this weekend.

Shire Games is next closest.

I can recommend both.

Shire Games has an internet store where you can buy the games and he can go collect them.

Blimey, Bollington is tiny, but if your brother is limited for transport, he can get a train from nearby Prestbury to either Manchester or Stoke.

He does game some although I won't consider him a game yet but he does come over on occasion and we play. He also play with his family too. I think he'd like a convention but he's strictly over there for work and only there for the next 7 or 8 days.

Unfortunately, my brother is only there for 7 or 8 days so he couldn't do March but thanks for the offer. I gave him a small list of what to look for that don't soound like they will be distributed in the US like some Zoch titles:Hamster Roll and Bamboleo. Others like Ubongo 3D, Loopin' Louie, Um Reifenbreite, Turf Master, and Rolling Bones.

Thanks everyone for all the help both responses and GMs. Looks like I have some research to do. Then I have to see if my brother can actually go out to the store and get any of the games. I'll also mention to him the convention. I'm sure he'd enjoy it. Thanks

Sorry Randy I didn't make myself clear. I appreciate he wouldn't be here is March. What I meant was that if he was at Stabcon, I know people who maybe interested in selling games at Stabcon to him. Many of us selling in March have already decided what we aim to sell and would not have a problem selling to anyone who is interested earlier than the auction.

Actually I should apologize I didn't thoroughly read your post. I saw March and breezed through it quickly after. I talked to my brother and Saturday he definitely will be working but Sunday he might be able to take a trip to Stabcon and check it out if it is still going on. Do you or anyone know the hours its going on Sunday and maybe a link to the convention that has some information about it. My convention experience is very limited as I've only been to one: GenCon a couple years ago and it's was pretty overwhelming at first.

My brother is pretty green when it comes to gaming and if he went I'd want to make sure he'd have a good time. He'd play just about anything but He might need to be taught how to play.

Randy - I've sent you a message that contains all the info you should need. There is a charge to attend Stabcon, but if you contact the organsers (in the info I've sent you), they may be able to reconsider this if your brother is just there to buy games.

However I can't speak for the organisers (it's their event not mine) but they are great people and do the event for the love of the hobby.

I'm just about to have some lunch and then I'm off to Stabcon - hopefully I may meet up with your brother.

Regards

David Brown
