Would the winner of the game be able to select a coin card from the resource deck to be destroyed as their game winning prize? Or are they limited to territory cards?

Technically the rules say "territory card" and not "resource card" but I'm fascinated that you have a plan to make this work.

It's not in the rules but it's your game.

The rules are specific - you may choose to tear up a territory card. No mention of winners getting to tear up anything else.

Nope. It specifically says Territory Card, not Resource Card.

It's actually not MY game. I only get to influence it as a player. And I was not sure of phrasing for the card destruction.

But as Rob Daviau noted, some styles of play might take advantage of such a choice, were it allowed.

Ripping up a coin card would speed up the game, possibly too much.
Remember when the coin cards first run out the person with the most territories gets a red star. Ripping up a territory card wont effect the speed much.
