So yeah... the subject sums it up, but here are the particulars;

Basketball themed, team based, fast paced, card game split up into 4 quarters for 4-10 players with optional rules for a 21 style 3 player game.

The 2 awesome names I have come up with are;

Half Court Attack! (don't hate it, but don't love it either)
Basketball (Um yeah the game is essentially like playing basketball with cards, so yeah... Basketball... sounds exciting, right?)

Oh BGG ones, you're my only hope.

Honestly... without knowing the game mechanics at all, this is tough.

If there is a quick play element, like slapping a card, or playing first on a stack, then "Jam" could work. If there is a drive toward a free throw type mechanic that earns points "Top of the Key" or something could work. As someone else said, "Full Court Press" can be good.

"Hardwood Showdown" for fans of innuendo?

But it should really give a hint to the actual play mechanics, and without that, not sure I can be much help.

;)

Thumbed for "Hoop, There It Is" although I think it would be correct to spell it as such:

Hoop, Dat Azz.

Also, Hoopin' Louie.

You guys are great!

So far my early favorites are;

Hoopla
Red Leather
Pickup Game
Boom-Shaka-Laka
and oddly enough Basketball: The Card Game

Honorable mentions;

Hoop! There It Is!
Boardgamers Can't Jump
and A New Hoop for playing off the Star Wars reference in the OP!

A brief run down of the game,

Each position is represented by their own deck made up of several cards including shoots, steals, passes, blocks, fouls, rebounds, misses, 3 pointers, picks, and rolls. Each deck is balanced according to position, (a center has more blocks than a shooting guard, so on and so forth).

Depending on the number of players the positions are predetermined and any unplayed positions get shuffled into the actual playing decks evenly.

Team members sit every other and there are balance charts showing which position sits where, also dependent on the number of players. A starting team is selected to have the ball and this rotates each quarter.

Each player selects 5 cards and the quarter begins. Depending on the current "ball handler"s hand he may do one of several things. The actions are simple quick and easy to decipher. Depending on his play other players may react, on offense or defense. After a card is played you immediately draw another card from your deck.

A quarter ends when any one players draw deck is exhausted, you score each teams points, track it, separate the additional position cards, (if playing 10 players, you ignore this), shuffle and re-deal those, and the person to the left of the person who started quarter one starts quarter two.

You do this for 4 quarters for a full game. Each team also has 3 "Time Outs" per game which allows the team that took the time out to discard any amount of current cards and draw new up to the hand limit of 5.

The game is extremely fast paced, (even more so with experienced players). Table talk is encouraged, (including but not limited to trash talking).

I realize without card descriptions you don't get everything about the game, but they are fairly basic and I think you have an idea of how this plays out.

Thanks for the name ideas, keep'em coming!
