Crisis on Infinite Earths

GAMEPLAY

The game will be played on a two day cycle, Planning and Mission. This is what the cycle will look like:

Planning Cycle:

10:00am - Dawn
10:00am - Missions Revealed
6:00pm - Dusk
6:00pm - Lynch if necessary
6:00pm - Missions Assigned
6:00pm - If you are attending Monitor’s Satellite, request Two Talent Cards
7:00pm - Mission Chats Open

Mission Cycle:

9:00am - Monitor’s Satellite Action Orders Due.*
5:00pm - Mission and Monitor’s Satellite Actions^ Deadline
9:00pm - Mission Results
9:00pm - Mission Rewards/Consequences
9:00pm - Mission Chats close
NOTE: Dawn could happen any time after Missions are complete. 10:00am the following day is the latest it will be.
*Whatever action you are choosing on Monitor’s Satellite, they must be entered by this time.
^Just for Investigate Player, Call Trial, Free from Jail of Strategic Planning.

The keys are:

If you end up staying on Monitor's Satellite, immediately request the two cards you want for attending the Satellite. You may choose these cards from the Talents you currently have access to. Then, if you are on the Satellite, you have until 9am the following morning to enter your order for whatever Action you'd like to take on the Satellite. If you have any questions, please ask.

WIN CONDITIONS

For Evil:
If three of the five Earth’s are destroyed, Evil Wins.
If the Matter/Anti-Matter Track hits 0, Evil wins.

For Good:
If all Evil players are removed from the game and the Anti-Matter track is five or above, Good wins.
If thirty-five Critical Mission points are achieved, the Anti-Monitor Falls and good wins.

GAME TRACKS

There are several tracks in the game that are affected by in game events.

If three of the Earth Tracks hit zero, then Good loses and Evil wins. These are decreased via the players failing Missions.

If the Anti-Matter Track hits zero, then Good loses and Evil wins. This track is decreased via Earth Tracks making it to certain levels, Mission Lose Consequences and the Secondary tracks making it to certain levels.

There are also four other Secondary Tracks, that cause in game effects as they decrease. These will decrease regardless of whether Missions pass or fail. The four tracks are: Psycho-Pirate, Monitor, Pariah and Shadow Demons.

THE BATTLE BETWEEN MATTER AND ANTI-MATTER

There are two main sides to the game Harbinger/Matter and Anti-Monitor/Anti-Matter. The Anti-Matter Squad act as delegates of the Anti-Monitor while the Seer Masons act as delegates of the Harbinger. During the game as Anti-Matter gets stronger, the Anti-Matter Squad will receive powers based on how much they have gained over Matter. The Seer Masons do not gain anything if they are able to stem the Anti-Matter tide, but they do ensure Anti-Matter doesn’t gain powers to use against Good.

The battle will be directly affected by the Missions the players go on.

EARTHS

Failing Missions will cause the Earth Tracks to be reduced. Once three worlds have been reduced to zero, the game will end and Evil will win.

Earth-1 = 10 (5 is the safe threshold)
Earth-2 = 12 (6 is the safe threshold)
Earth-S = 8 (4 is the safe threshold)
Earth-X = 8 (4 is the safe threshold)
Earth-4 = 8 (4 is the safe threshold)

SECONDARY TRACKS

Psycho Pirate Track: If this track hits zero, a player will be randomly converted to the Evil Team.

Shadow Demons Track: If this track hits zero, the Shadow Demons will attack each Earth still alive. The game will be paused as players will be immediately forced to attend Missions to fight the Shadow Demons. Missions will be for three to five players and will range in difficulty from seven to ten with Tactics, Power and Combat counting as positive.

Monitor Track: If this track hits zero, one player in the game will die, targeted by the Anti-Monitor Squad.

Pariah Track: If this track hits zero, if there is a planet below the ‘safe threshold’ it will automatically die. If there are multiple planets below the safe threshold, just the weakest will die. If there are no planets below the safe threshold, then the weakest planet will lose four life points.

SKILLS AND ROLES:

Passive Priest – There will be two unaware Passive Priests in the game. While they are alive, alignments will be revealed during the game. The Passive Priests could be good or evil.

Mission Generals – There will be three aware Mission Generals in the game. While they are alive, Talents required for Missions will be revealed privately to them at Dawn. The Mission Generals could be good or evil. The Mission Generals will know each other and will share a chat.

Anti-Matter Squad – There will be an undisclosed amount of members of the Anti-Matter Squad. They will know each other and share a chat. They will gain or lose powers based on the battle between The Harbinger/Matter and the Anti-Monitor/Anti-Matter. The Anti-Matter Squad are the Max Evils in the game.

Saboteur - The will be one Saboteur in the game. The Saboteur is Evil and a member of the Anti-Matter Squad. Each Mission day, they will be able to change one Mission after they have been announced and the Mission Generals have received the pertinent information. The Mission Generals will not get the new Mission Information.

Masons – There will be two Masons in the game. If someone uses Investigate Player, they receive the view as well as the player activating the area on Monitor’s Satellite. They know each other and share a chat. They start the game as guaranteed Good. However, there is a possibility of conversion so, their alignment may change.

MISSIONS

Missions will follow the same structure as the board game Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game in which each of the superheroes will have five talents. The five talents will be: Tactics, Flight, Power, Intellect, and Combat.

Missions will be for five players, no more and no less.

There will be a minimum of three Missions to a maximum of five Missions available to go on per day. A maximum of three Missions may be attended each day.

The Mission Generals will be told privately what Talents are needed on each of the Missions.

On each Mission there will be two to four of the Talents needed to successfully complete the Mission.

Each Mission will have an overall score to successfully complete the Mission. Some may have a score to partially complete the Mission as well.

Players will add Talent Cards from their hand, with the Talents require adding value to the overall score of the Mission and those not required, detracting from the score of the Mission.

There is one Destiny deck of thirty cards each built at the start of the game of six cards randomly chosen from each of the five Talents. The Destiny deck is shuffled and two cards are randomly added to each of the Missions. When the Destiny decks run out, the deck of thirty cards is randomly created again.

While on Missions players will be allowed to post to the Main Thread.

There will be Missions where the team on the Mission have to vote on what to do on the Mission. This will be done secretly in mod chats. Only the result will be posted to the chat.

Missions that are not attempted on one day will increase in difficulty on each subsequent day by one point. The first person to send Sparky a PM with this line gets five geekgold for reading the rules. If a Mission is not attempted for three consecutive days, it will be deemed a loss and the appropriate consequences will be applied, randomly if they were supposed to affect a specific person.

Missions results will be the final total contributed to the Mission along with a pass/fail statement and consequences if any. All Mission results will be posted to the Team Chats and not to the thread.

MISSION ROLES

On some of the Missions either the Battle General or Intelligence Commander will need to make a decision based on the Mission. These roles are fluid throughout the game, to a point, as at any time there may be multiple players taking on one of the roles based on the Missions. Here is the hierarchy of each role:

MONITOR’S SATELLITE:

Monitor’s Satellite is open to all players who don’t leave for a Mission that day. Monitor’s Satellite has six different options available to the players left there. Players automatically take two Talent cards for staying at the Satellite. When drawing cards, it must be from the Players Talents to the maximum of each Talent. Each player may activate one additional option, which is chosen from the following, in the order that they are carried out. For some, an unlimited amount of players may activate the action, for others there will only be one person allowed to activate it. When Free From Jail, Investigate Player, Strategic Planning or Call Trial are activated, all of those players in Monitor’s Satellite must participate in the action, but do not need to use Talent Cards.

Practice Talent: Players may take an additional two Talent cards, following normal draw limits. An unlimited amount of people may activate this action during the Monitor’s Satellite phase.

Armory: A player may draw two Combat cards. This action ignores normal draw limits. An unlimited amount of people may activate this action during the Monitor’s Satellite phase.

Strategic Planning: A player may discard Tactics cards equalling a total of four or more Talent points to learn what Talents are needed on a random Mission during the next Mission phase. If more than one player uses this option, they will not receive the same information. Information will be posted publicly. An unlimited amount of people may activate this action during the Monitor’s Satellite phase.

Investigate Player: Players can try to pass a Talent Check of a difficulty seven in Tactics and Intelligence to investigate another player. If successful, the player who activated the Investigate Player option will get to investigate any player NOT on Monitor’s Satellite and learn whether they are a Max Evil. A maximum of one player can activate this action during the Monitor’s Satellite phase.

Free From Jail: Players can try to pass a Talent Check of a difficulty eleven in Tactics, Power, and Combat to free a single player from the brig. A maximum of one player can activate this action during the Monitor’s Satellite phase.

Call Trial: Players can try to pass a Talent Check of a difficulty nine in Combat, Intelligence and Tactics to activate a lynch for the following day. A maximum of one player can activate this action during the Monitor’s Satellite phase.

JAIL

If a player is in jail, they may post to the thread.

They may not take any actions in Monitor’s Satellite or on Missions.

If someone tries to free them from Jail they may draw one card, following normal drawing rules and may contribute exactly one card to the attempt to free them.

LYNCH

Lynch is activated in two ways. First, if a player is killed on a Mission the option to lynch a player and remove them from the game becomes available during the next Meeting stage. Also, players staying on Monitor’s Satellite during the Mission phase can activate Call Trial to activate a lynch the following Planning Cycle. If Call Trial is used, it is in addition to any other lynch and the top two players on the vote tally are lynched.

When a player is lynched, they are sent to the Jail. While in Jail, a player may freely post to the thread, however, they may not vote, attend any Missions or Monitor’s Satellite, nor use any of their powers.

Players may [vote no lynch].

REVEALED EVIL

An Evil Player may choose to reveal as Evil during the Planning Cycle. A revealed Evil may not participate in any Missions and must immediately leave Monitor’s Satellite for the Anti-Monitor’s Secret Base. Each Evil player has a secret power that they can use when they reveal.

Evil players may attempt to sabotage Missions by adding no more than one card into one Mission of their choice each Mission Cycle. If there are multiple revealed Evils, they are limited to one Evil per Mission. Players will be told which Mission the Evil players are on.

Revealed Evils may post to the thread.

Revealed Evils may draw two days per Mission Cycle.

SUPERHEROES

This is a list of the Superheroes available to use in the game. Here you can find their name and their talents.

Assimilation: When on Monitor’s Satellite she may draw a Talent Card that anyone who is on Monitor’s Satellite can draw.

The Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally System

Your Moderator has enabled the Cassandra Automatic Vote Tally system
for this game. In order for it to function correctly, your votes will
need to be formatted correctly. The following rules will explain what
you will need to do:

Players
1. All votes must be bolded

2. The entire vote statement must be bolded and enclosed in bracekts: [vote jmilum]

3. Only one vote per post.

4. If you [vote nightfall] your vote will be locked (voting
nightfall is allowed in the same post as a vote for a player, but it
must come after it, this does not violate Rule #3)

5. Vote tallies will be automatically posted to the game thread hourly
if the tally has changed. The Tally and Vote Logs (for each game day)
are also available on the Cassandra game page.

6. If your vote is not counted be sure to check the Vote Log page and
see if it was marked invalid and why.

7. Case does not matter and simple typos will not cause the vote to fail.

8. You may [vote no lynch] if your game allows it.

9. Non voting players will be listed in the tallies. This will only be
correct if the Moderator notes which players have been killed (see below)

10. Editing a vote post will invalidate the vote and it will not be counted.

Moderators
1. The moderator will need to post [Dawn] when the day begins
(after the night results are posted) and [Dusk] when the lynch
deadline has passed and the day is over. Votes will not be counted
after [Dusk] has been posted. They will be registered again
after [Dawn] is next posted.

2. You may include a day number in the dawn and dusk post for
informational purposes, but it will not be used by the system.
Cassandra will increment an internal counter each time it sees
[Dawn] no matter what day is shown in a dawn post (i.e.
[Dawn 3] the three is allowed but ignored)

3. After dusk has been posted, the Moderator may go to the game page
on Cassandra to request a Final Tally to be posted before the normal
scan period has elapsed (i.e. Game Y gets scanned at 45 min. after the
hour, if it lynches at 7pm the moderator may request a tally to be
posted from the game page before 7:45pm. it will also be posted
regardless of whether or not it has been changed since the last
posting) - Do this by clicking on the 'Retrieve Final Lynch Time Vote' link.

4. You will need to note which players were killed via the lynch or at night by
either posting [killed jmilum] in the thread, or by going to the game
page and editing the player list. When posting in the thread, be sure to post
[dusk] before posting the lynch kill, and post [dawn] before
posting the night kill.
Example:
A. lynch time has passed so post [dusk]
B. goto the game page and select a final tally to be posted
C. check the final tally and post [killed melsana]
D. after the night deadline has passed post [dawn]
E. post the night kill with [killed kima]

Your Moderator has chosen to use the Longest Held Last Vote method for a tiebreaker - This is just for Cassandra system, and there may be a different tiebreaker specified by your Moderator in the ruleset.

Re: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Game Thread - Do not post until DAWN has been posted.
A green robed figure blinked into existence, floating one hundred meters over a downtown area of some unknown world. Below him was a mass of chaos. Thousands of people were running for their lives away from a bright white wall of nothingness that seemed to envelope all matter of people, land, buildings... Everything in its path...

“NOOOOOOO!!!!” The figure screamed. No one noticed. “Not again! Why? Why must I bear witness?”

As he turned away from the unrelenting wall the army of this unnamed city fought on attempting to alter their unmistakable end. Tanks rolled through the streets, firing shells into the wall. They were swallowed up. Jets flew towards the wall, firing missiles into it. They too were swallowed up without any impact. As the wall continued its slow progress people simply disappeared, along with tall skyscrapers, cars, animals... The wall took it all.

“You cannot escape! Accept your fate!” The green clad man screamed to those below. “Repent!”

But it did no good. They wouldn’t listen. They couldn’t hear. It wasn’t his calling to warn them. It wasn’t his calling to save them.

It was his calling to watch them die. To watch worlds die. He was the Pariah. And he was being punished.

-------------------------------------------------------

Two figures stood in a futuristic room, presumably on some sort of spaceship as behind them through the window all you could see was blackness and stars. The male stared out into the vastness of space, while the female stood watching him. He turned his head slightly.

“It is time, Lyla.” He nearly whispered to the woman.

“I understand.” She nodded. This had been discussed previously. “How many?”

She asked, causing him to turn around to face her. He took two steps in her direction his eyes watching the ground. He sighed, raising his head, presumably tired.

“As many as you can bring. All of them.” She looked shocked.

“But, at first... The list...” She stammered, unprepared.

“My enemy moves faster than I was prepared for. It may already be too late. We need as many as we can get. We must act quickly.” He stood stoically.

“Of course. I shall go right away.”

She walked slowly from the room and the male turned back to looking out into space. Moments later there were streams of pink light exploding from the satellite and streaming into space.

"God speed, Lyla."

"I have need for you, Batman." She said, silently floating in the air.

"Who are you?" Batman asked.

"I am a friend. Your world. No, the entire universe is in dange of extinction and I need you. Please come." She put out her hand. Batman instinctively reached out his and grabbed her hand.

In a blink of pink light, they were both gone.

Alright. I suggest, since it's allowed, we all claim the value of our cards before each mission. It'll mean Evil will have to come up with their lies before knowing the missions, and thus more likely to be caught in those lies. Thoughts?

Re: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Day One - They come. The Harbinger brings them.
She is perched atop a building watching the alley below. She patrols the night, exacting her own brand of justice to those who cross her path and determined to be criminals by her standards. A woman's scream sends her running in the opposite way she was looking, leaping from one building to the next.

She runs across the second rooftop, skidding to a stop at the edge, looking down into a parking lot. Two thugs were on the ground standing over a body lying on the ground. The Huntress made her move, quickly jumping from one spot to the next down the side of the building until a bright pink light blinked her out of this existence.

The Huntress had been recruited.

Batman of Earth 2 was killed in 1979. Crisis happened in 1985. So your're wrong.
