I like M&M a lot; a cool variety of things to do in the game. However, the games for my group still often have a solitairish feel to them, especially when several merchants are playing-- which my game buddies tend to play a lot. Everybody mostly does their own thing, occasionally checking how close other players are to winning.

Has anyone come up with any new Missions or Rumors that require participation by more than one player? This could increase the amount of player interaction. I can think of two types: cooperative and competitive.

--Coop missions would require two (or more) players to do something to allow each of these players to receive the reward. Or, a primary player could ask for an ally who would help out and receive a lesser reward (maybe like Cosmic Encounter?). Maybe fight an NPC ship?

--Competitive missions could be something like a duel: one player calls out another for a ship battle that has no actual long term game effects, and is just used to decide who gets the reward for that mission. Or, a team mission: 2 players could do some competition against the other 2 players (fight, race, escort, etc.).

Any chance for an expansion with this kind of mission? (Wish I had time to playtest some myself.)

Overall, I think multiplayer-focused missions would be a great addition not only to M&M, but to other competitive adventure games that have a multiplayer-solitaire feel, like fantasy ones such as Runebound.

Multiplayer missions would be really cool. It's funny, right when i saw the title to this I thought of "race". I think it would be pretty sweet to come up with something where the maneuverability comes into play as well where the higher the number maybe the faster it can go. Though how to figure that out would take me some time.
