Do asteroids move as long as their target hex is free (assuming red/white asteroid), or do they have to be able to slide into the space without hitting an obstacle?

eg. Could asteroid 2 move into the hex space directly north of it, even though it would hit the South East edge of asteroid 1 if slid into place?

I hope that makes sense and apologies if I've missed an obvious explanation in the rules.

Yes they can move through tight spots. Don't take the size of the asteroid pieces too literally.

Cheers. I thought it would have been highlighted in the rules if they couldn't move that way, but didn't want to assume.
