Hello forum,

I currently enjoy LotR:LCG with 1 core set + first 3 AP,

I love this game and play it quite often, but there is just one problem for me.

I can build variety of decks and still able to beat scenarios at decent win ratio, when I play multiplayer (or with 2 decks).

I can have all out attacking deck, or really low thraet questing deck, or two really low threat deck to make a beast out of dunhere..... option seems to be endless when playing this game multiplayer.

However, when i play solo (which is what I prefer), there doesn't seem to be a lot of deck (or atleast ones I can think of) that performs well.

I need to Quest / Fight / Other Ultilities with one deck and one deck alone, and I keep coming back to one same deck: Deck Destroyer featuring Eowyn/Beravor/Gloin.

Bera + UC / Eo + SoG / Gloin + Song of Wisdom + Daugther

Gloin takes defended hits and fight make mad money and summon those costly but strong allies
Eowyn quest and has enough resources with SoG for Tracker / negate cards
Beravor insures I always get the card I need.

And just slap that Protector of Lorien on Gloin later on and BOOM, all the questing done in one turn.

This deck was so powerful that I can beast all 6 quests that I own (including Dol Guldur), and does so in under 5~8 turns.

I either get UC early, or sneak atk + gandalf, or strong leadership allies.... not getting any of thsoe 3 combination is really improbable considering that is all the cards in my deck. clear out those beginning of quest threats and just keep discarding cards to powerquest before anything too nasty can show up.

I really want to play solo without a deck based on drawpower + discard power, but cannot come up with a good deck that does the job.

I've tried to change the deck, but realized I am just playing same deck different name.

Excluded Beravor for Bilbo or Denethor, but is still the same because I was doing card management.
Excluded Gloin for Gimli or Legolas but realzied was still the same, just lot of resource + expensive allies got subsitutded for cheap event + powerful hero.
Even tried without Eowyn (who I thougth was core mechanism of this deck), but really didn't make any difference.

Then I realized which card that needed to be removed, "Protector of Lorien"

I tried to solo many times without Protector of Lorien, and failed horribly each time.

I just can not finish the quest fast enough, and all the nasties shows up.

I think I see some hope using faramir, but failed so far miserably.

Can someone recommand me a deck that is completely different from my play style yet gets the job done?

I play a Rohan "control" deck from time to time, which uses Eowyn, Dunhere and Theodred, that has a good showing against multiple scenarios (honestly don't know about Escape from Dol Goldur).

You basically take your time, reduce your threat, tackle enemies with Dunhere, smack locations with Northern Trackers and get some Lore "special forces" via Stand and Fight, but it had no Lore hero or a Protector of Lorien.

I don't have a deck list ready, but if you are interested, I can provide one I think.

There are plenty of great solo decks that have already been posted in the strategy section. I'm sure you can find several good ones that are very different from your current deck.

One thing to be aware of is that your strategy and tactics will have to change significantly when you use a different type of deck. It might take a number of games for you to get used to a new deck.

I've tried 3 rohan heroes actually,
and I got owned everytime a low threat enemy showed up within first 3 turns, (hate those orcs and undeads)

maybe I built the deck wrong or was doing something incorrectly,

if you could be kind enough to get me that decklist, maybe I can give it another shot and hopefully workout for better.

and yes, I did browse through the strategy section,
most seemed to require cards from APs that I do not own (I only have first 3 available to me), or include Beravor.

Maybe I missed something, I'll definitely try rebrowsing it.

Try some of the older posts. Everything from August and before will only include the core set and the first 3 APs.

I've put together a decklist of how the deck roughly is, but a slight warning: I had been using a 2nd Core Set, so the deck probably is less reliable now. Especially Sneak Attack, Steward of Gondor and Galadrims Greetings are missed in 3rd copy.
Also there are some powerful cards coming in later APs like West Road Traveller that are "missing".

But anyway, that is roughly how I would build the deck with your cards:

Deck Built with CardGameDB.com LotR Deckbuilder

Hero (3)
Dunhere (Core) x1
Eowyn (Core) x1
Theodred (Core) x1

Ally (23)
Daughter of the Nimrodel (Core) x2
Gandalf (Core) x3
Gleowine (Core) x1
Henamarth Riversong (Core) x1
Eomund (CatC) x2
Escort from Edoras (AJtR) x2
Faramir (Core) x1
Guard of the Citadel (Core) x2
Northern Tracker (Core) x2
Wandering Took (Core) x2
Snowbourn Scout (Core) x3
Westfold Horse-Breaker (THfG) x2

Attachment (9)
Ancient Mathom (AJtR) x3
Dunedain Mark (THfG) x3
Steward of Gondor (Core) x2
Unexpected Courage (Core) x1

Event (18)
A Test of Will (Core) x2
Dwarven Tomb (Core) x1
For Gondor! (Core) x2
Grim Resolve (Core) x1
Mustering the Rohirrim (THfG) x2
Sneak Attack (Core) x2
Stand and Fight (Core) x3
The Galadhrim's Greeting (Core) x2
Valiant Sacrifice (Core) x2
Second Breakfast (CatC) x1

I consider the 4 Lore allies "jokers", you are likely to draw one over the course of the game. But you need Stand and Fight to get those into play, so sometimes they are just Eowyn fodder. Having 4 "dead" cards in your deck is a slight risk, but if you get one into play you have patched a big hole of your deck.

You are right that especially low threat enemies are dangerous, but outside of turn 1 you should have 1 or 2 allies that can deal with them. For example, lets say you face Dol Goldur Orcs on turn 1. Then I'd probably say let them go undefended and attack them with Dunhere + Wandering Took. If you already have a Scout to block them, better for you.
Later in the game you can have Eomund sit back and ready your defenses if needed.

Hope this helps.
