If you use healing ritual, how do you determine the closest player? Is it by how many revealed spaces they are away from you, the shortest straight line you can draw, or the least movement points it would take to get to another player?

I've always assumed that it's just the number of hexes "as the crow flies," ignoring all terrain. But that's just an assumption using the plainest meaning of "closest."

I did too, but now that Rob mentions it, using movement points to trace a route makes more sense thematically...

Movement points only represent the difficulty of crossing a certain type of terrain, so it certainly means closest in terms of hexes.

Possibly, but revealed hexes or just hexes? It can make a big difference. Are you plotting a path from one character to another on the board as it currently exists or measuring distance, like they do in warhammer, as just an objective measurement?

It would have to be revealed hexes. Unrevealed spaces simply don't exist yet.

That was how the majority at our game ruled, but I can see the other two arguments making sense too.

Correct. Having terrain between you unexplored is irrelevant.
