We had a great testing session last night. Captain Jim arrived asking "what are we doing tonight?" Plans were to do further testing on Glory Days, the second expansion set for Dog Fight: Starship Edition (details forthcoming). However, we would soon be joined by Captain Kirk and his brother the most honorable Captain Pete. Pete is recently returned from a tour in Iraq, for which we at Fox Games and I personally extend the deepest gratitude for his personal sacrifice and service to his countrymen.

Since it was four of us we decided to play a team game utilizing (almost) basic rules. As is often the case with the brothers joining the game conversation was quite interesting and sparked many new card ideas. One of our play testing groups already has ship-to-ship boarding cards where you can board an enemy ship with your own crew! Now there are even more ideas along these lines which will hopefully be included in the next prototype order. We also were able to fine tune some cards that have already been in testing for some time. We also encountered a need for updated card rulings.

One such card is "Active Defensive Armor". We discovered an issue relating to a limit of this card, where it states you can use the effect of "Active Defensive Armor" only once per ATTACK card targeting you. In this case "Double Shot" was used correctly in order to provide its two attacks. And, due to Captain Kirk's exemplary capability with the game, "Double Shot" was duplicated - thus allowing 4 attacks with this singular card. To make sure there is no confusion the card rulings file has been updated to reflect how the situation should be resolved. We've decided that since the ATTACK card was duplicated this means there were two separate instances of its effect. Therefore the Armor card's effect can be used twice, once for each instance the ATTACK card was played.

We were also play testing cards designed specifically to help players get around (or through) armor. Thanks to Pete's expertise we have several great card ideas to add to the game, not limited to anti-armor cards.

You can download the card rulings PDF file via the official website now.
