Does anyone else suffer from their players not being able to keep their bids secret? As in, the sound of the chips clinking tends to be obvious if you're listening for it. You can try to bluff it, but sometimes they can even hear when you put the chips back down.

I think we need to start playing some classical music while we play to drown out the clicks and clacks.

How are you putting your bids out? We just keep them in a fist and open them up. Holding them in your hand shouldn't allow them to move enough to make noise.

We make several 1-5 height columns of the disks. You can collect or put back the desired amount with one hand easily, and you can clink or muffle intentionally as you see fit.

There are 10 types of people-- those who understand binary, and those who don't.

We have a "house rule" that says that you can bid silver coins during the first bidding round, but they are not ever counted. They are only there to make noise, and/or to fill up your fist even fatter.
Then, if there is a tie, and silver coins are needed to break it, your fairy gold can be put into your fist but they are also only there for show.

In fact, sometimes we make a point of making a lot of noise with our coins, to fake out our opponents (who are doing the same thing, usually). It's good for a giggle once in a while.
Caution, however-- if people are trying to keep track of your hidden quantity of silver coins, and you put three into your fist along with your gold, then everyone knows that you have at least 3 coins to use in a tie-breaker bid.
