Hey ladies and gentlemen !

Here is the new Awakening the Bear cards design. Our aim was to make them prettier, supplement text elements with icons and make play elements pop out whenever possible.
While we intend to keep backward compatibility with the previous games, we feel we had to upgrade the looks and feel for all of our CoH upcoming titles. Don't worry, we did not remove anything from the original cards. ( The "swift action" will be renamed so as to have "dual action" in its title - just like the first games).

So among other things, we introduced the use of small icons (bottom right) to specify if the given card could be used by a group or if its use counted as an action. No need to look for this info in the text block anymore.

Larger, more diversified and historically correct images, non-generic card names, better card# visibility and consistent weapons firepower values positions are some of the things you guys asked for.

Also, the card back will from now be the same for all the games, so that new card packages might be available separately -How? When? we are still working on that.

Here are some samples.

Very nice.
Apart from the Molotov one, the pictures look very good.

On card #04, the last sentence starts with a small type.
I would also consider starting the subtitles with long types...

Agreed. The Molotov is to plain. Something is needed in the background. Perhaps an image of it just about to hit something. Otherwise great job on these cards. I can't wait to get my hands on them.

This color was chosen by Uwe himself. It goes hand in hand with the color of the panties he wears.

Those look very good. Constructive criticism from a graphic designer: the top-left icons resemble very much iPhone/Android App icon with the over-glossy web 2.0 aesthetics. thumbsdown

You should consider changing this theme with something more gritty or sobering it up. I feel the current icons could go out of fashion very quickly as new trends emerge. If you go for a more sober look they won't feel "2011"-ish five years from now so in the long run it will age more gracefully.

The rest of the cards and the use of color is very good though. I also love those WWII photos. They add much to the theme! thumbsup

Will the cards have the same pictures regardless of time and place? As in Russian and German picture for Gudalacanal or Vietnam games?

Great job Pavlos, as usual.

You make a very good point indeed. Will make it less iPhone-like.

Pavlos, great job. One thing already mentioned: Please try to find a photo of using a molotov cocktail instead of showing the graphic.

I found an example right here:

Kai, I think we would get in trouble with Budweiser, since that looks like one of their 44oz Silver Bullet Beer bottles!

Well yes, the champaign bottles were very heavy and did not break as easy. I have read many references where, if properly aimed, they could knock a Panzer commander unconscious. Really, this is the truth!
