I've done Deeproot / Ranger before, it's fun but after a few weak rolls I got rather discouraged what with their 2AP area attacks...

The Dwarf seems best; Sweep is ridiculous at 1AP

Cons: All melee and so they will catch fire when attacking the spawn points (but the fire effect of the spawn points can be negated by having the barbarian smash it in a single turn and having the paladin's potion ready to remedy her after.)

Quick point: You should not be using the Starfire dungeon effects card unless Starfire is the dungeon boss, which is not the case for 2 hero games. (there is no dungeon boss, just keep spawning rex and mobs until the spawn point is destroyed).

Claw Tribe Barbarian + Riftling Rogue
Use barbarian rage to generate potions and use the rogue potion to Teleport around the room.

Deeproot Scout + (Ember Mage or Hexcast Sorceress or Glimmerdusk Ranger)
Use ranged attacks to kill mobs and generate potions. Use Scout to feed more actions to the ranged hero.

Paladin + Candy & Cola
Not a lot of range or damage, but with the potions rolling in, it would be quite hard to kill either of them.

Angry Bear + Barbarian
Backlash tank wall.
