You have to, at least from a distance, look as if you know what you're doing, and I can manage that.

impressive! 131 is really coming along nicely

However, from a tactical standpoint I'm not sure this is a wise design, unless the Tiger had an internal starter for normal use?

I wouldn't like having to go outside while in combat, if my driver stalled the engine :S

The link just above shows an internal starter although I don't know if this was standard or a recent addition..

Edit..Just found this fascinating website with just about everything the Tiger afficiando could want...the training manual and cut-away drawings very interesting...

From "Tiger" by Fest-Culver:

Starters
Two starters are fitted - one electric and one inertia. The Bosch 24V axial motor is mounted on the starboard side of the engine at the forward end and immediately above it a Bosch hand operated inertia starter, also of the axial type. The hand crank for the inertia starter, is carried in suitable clips on the tail plate, the orifice being covered by a B.P. sealing plate when it is not in use.

Accumulators
The accumulator consists of two 12V 150Amp/hrs batteries stoved on the hull floor astride the propeller shaft immediately ahead of the engine bulkhead.
They are normally connected in parallel but a series/parallel switch permits a change over to 24V for starting.

Highlight of my family holiday every year was when it rained because it meant a trip to the Bovington tank museum.

Much better than trudging down the crowded beach carrying armfuls of buckets, spades and wilted sandwiches just to find a few square feet where you could actually see the sand.

Wow. It's hard to get a grasp on how huge those things are until you see someone standing between the mufflers cranking the engine.
