EVACUATION

Background:
This is a scenario-based skirmish. The scenario is custom-designed and immediately follows "Deceived" skirmish described here:

http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/748669/deceived-a-custom-sce...

In this scenario, the Whiphid Jedi Master and the female Mirialan Jedi Master that survived the previous skirmish are still on Corusccant, and they want to escape the Sith bombardment. Before leaving the planet, they received word that they need to evacuate a particular VIP along with them.

(Note that the unique Star Wars Miniatures used in the skirmish stand in for unnamed Jedi Masters of the same species.)

Scenario rules

Map: Coruscant Streets (from WotC's Map Pack 3: Crystal Caves of Ilum)

Two tiles were added to the map to represent damage from the Sith bombardment (Crater and Damaged Speeder).

Light Side Squad
52 Master K'Kruhk (he is a Whiphid)
40 Luminara Unduli, Jedi Master (she is a Mirialan)
24 Antarian Rangers x2
8 R7 Astromech Droid

(124 points, 5 activations)

Setup within 4 squares of the eastern edge of the map.

Dark Side Squad
22 Sith Marauder
20 Sith Trooper Captain
13 Elite Sith Trooper
10 Sith Operative
24 Sith Trooper x3
5 Sith Guard
3 Mouse Droid

(97points, 9 activations)

Set up in the north-south street and adjacent sidewalk in front of the casino. Dark side sets up first.

VIP: A VIP (represented by the Mon Mothma figure) is hiding inside the casino at one of the Dejarik tables. The VIP has 60HP, Defense 12, and may not attack. The VIP is considered an object instead of a character until a Light Side character ends its move adjacent to the VIP. The Dark Side does not know the VIP is hiding in the casino and no Dark Side character may end its move within 4 squares of the VIP while she is still considered an object.

Light Side winning conditions: Rescue the VIP by ending a move next to her. Then reach the landing pad with the VIP and at least one Jedi Master within 6 rounds. If they don't reach the landing pad in time, more Sith forces will arrive and apprehend them.

Dark Side winning conditions: Prevent the Light Side from reaching their victory conditions.

Summary

Setup

The Jedi Masters and a couple of Antarian Rangers rush to find the VIP at the coordinates their droid has provided.

A squad of Sith troopers and a Marauder were alerted to the Jedis' presence and move to intercept them. They are unaware of the VIP hiding in the casino.

Round 1

The Light Side forces advance into the Power & Fueling Station while the Sith forces take cover, preparing to assault them when they emerge.

Round 2

The Jedi Masters burst forth. The Whiphid engages a group of Troopers to the north while the Mirialan Jedi Master faces off with the Sith Marauder. Blaster bolts fly at the Jedi from what seems like every direction.

Round 3

One Jedi Master makes quick work of the Sith Marauder...

...while the Rangers come out to trade shots with a couple of Sith Troopers.

An onslaught of crossfire from the Sith takes out one of the Rangers and destroys the R7 droid. The Whiphid Jedi Master rushes toward the casino.

Round 4

The Whiphid cuts down a Sith Operative and then opens the door as the Mirialan rushes past him with Master Speed to reach the VIP.

The VIP hides in a corner while the Jedi Masters try to figure out how to get her to the landing pad without getting her killed. The Sith Troopers take out the second Antarian Ranger.

The Elite Sith Trooper follows the Jedi Masters to the casino and spots the VIP.

Round 5

He shoots at her before meeting the wrong end of a lightsaber. The Whiphid moves toward the north door of the casino to prepare a way for the VIP.

The VIP rushes toward the north door only to be injured from an attack by a Sith Trooper. The Sith Trooper Captain waits outside, ready to ambush whoever emerges.

Round 6

The Whiphid slides across the table, striking down the Trooper and opening the door. The VIP rushes to the landing pad...and amazingly, the Sith Trooper Captain misses a point blank shot as she runs past! He is fortunate that reinforcements arrive as the Mirialan Jedi Master faces off with the last of his troops.

===

The Dark Side player wins the skirmish by the slimmest margin. The Light Side reached the landing pad with the VIP within 6 rounds, but not with a Jedi Master. The Sith Trooper Captain only needed a 4 on that last roll (on a d20) to defeat the VIP, but rolled a 2.

Epilogue:

The Whiphid Jedi Master slows down slightly as he fends off an attack from the Sith Trooper Captain, reaching the speeder as the Mirialan fends off the reinforcements just enough to allow the vehicle to get off the ground.

"Go without me! Get her out of here!"

Given how close it was, we decided that the next skirmish will assume that the Whiphid did indeed get off the planet with the VIP, while the Mirialan was captured.

Thanks. We threw the rules for this scenario together at the spur of the moment after we finished the DECEIVED scenario, but it worked pretty well.
