I read the new rules and I don't see the component or rule changes as being significant enough to warrant the FFG version having an entry in the database that is separate from the one used for the first seven versions. Yes there's plastic minis, new boards, and new artwork and yes there are rule changes, but it's fundamentally the same game. This seems to be the latest trend in the database (e.g Puerto Rico Anniversary Edition), but isn't this the point of the version system?
Poll
Should the FFG version have a separate entry in the database?
Yes, keep it separate
No, it belongs in the same entry as the earlier versions

Schools of magic, miniatures, hand size counting maintained spells, crack rule.

This is a wholly new version when all is said and done.

This appears to be a pretty different game that deserves it's own entry. I think that it will surpass the old versions in ratings and potentially become more popular

Voted for keep them separate. And the same should be done with Nexus Ops.

I don't think this is a policy that will be changed due to a poll. I don't know this for certain, but I'm under the impression that FFG requests separate entries for many of their games.

I like FFG, and I understand why splitting would be useful to them both for marketing and support, but I find the practice less useful as a BGG user/player. You can count on seeing this issue come up again and again, and not just for FFG.

Not only all the above reasons, but there are certain functions on this site that keeping them together make difficult to use. The main one I can think of is trades (and the lively Math trade subset).

+1 for separating (or retaining it...)

If there's four Cosmic Encounters there should be at least two Wiz-Wars.

How are they wrong? I'm already seeing questions that are only about the new edition.

If anything, we should have more, not fewer, database entries. Shoving over twenty years of Magic the Gathering expansions into one entry is useless.

They are diffrent games when you boil it all down no matter how someone might try to deny it. Some of these alterations in rules are not small either. Having them in the same entry creates problems and solves nothing.

Why do you care enough to make a poll about it?
