I know, this has been asked a million times, but I am still confused so please bear with me.

I have the base game.
A friend is giving me copies of Eastern Front, Campaign Book 1, Terrain Pack, and Winter/Desert board with the stipulation that I buy additional expansions for us to enjoy so we can play the Campaign Books (he is giving base game to another friend). Here is what I can find about what is available:

Contains 46 new scenarios and builds upon the campaign rules introduced in Campaign Book Volume 1 to let players experience scenarios in succession, with the outcome of each battle impacting the next.
--33 Cardboard Counters and Tiles:
--------27 round markers
--------6 obstacles

NOTE: It looks like all scenarios require at least one expansion (Pacific Theater, BreakThrough, and Terrain Pack most prevalent, Oh and the OOP AirPack).

***********************

So, here are the questions:

Does BreakThrough replace the Overlord stuff for multiplayers?
Do I need more than just Pacific Theater and the Breakthrough expansions to play Campaign Book 2?

This is the most confusing series I think I have seen with all of the out of print and multiple replacements...

It looks like the Breakthrough Cards are part of the Winter Wars Expansion? To play Winter Wars you need the Breakthrough Kit and Eastern Front?

Do I need anything else for the Campaign Book 1?

edit: OH, and for the Breakthrough, what does "9-panel board maps" mean? is that like putting two copies of the board from the base game together?

Anyway, any help to let me know how to proceed would be greatful.

Break through is NOT Overlord nor does it replace it in any way.

You also need Air Pack, Breakthrough, and Terrain Pack to Play portions of the CB v.2.

You don't "need" Breakthrough to play Winter Wars but I think there are a couple scenarios that use it. I am pretty sure you need Eastern Front. The Winter board is nice but not necessary.

9-panel just means how it is folded up. But it is a single board that is twice as "tall" as a standard board.

This file is great and kind of helps answers your questions, but it needs to be updated:

Also, the "Battle Maps" is incorrect. What you have listed there is the "Winter/Desert Board."

Battle Maps are preprinted paper maps in Overlord Size. They also come with additional things like Tiger Tanks, Jeeps, Half-tracks, etc. Also, these are all most likely OOP and never to be printed again.

Campaign book 2 does not need Campaign Book 1. All Campaign rules are printed in book 2.

For a list of what is needed for CB2 look at this list I made: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/749540/list-of-required-expa...

Air Pack is available for download and you can use something else as airplanes.(Planes from other games if you have or draw a plane on a small piece of paper)

Cb1 list of required expansions: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/400024/list-of-required-expa...
You have what you need to play that with Terrain, Eastern, Winter/desert board and basegame. (Air Rules are optional.

Breakthrough and Pacific will allow you to play all of CB2 with what you got.

Winter wars has 6-standard scenarios that uses basegame and winter board(in addition to winter war)
and
4 breakthrough scenarios that uses Eastern Front and BT boards in additon to basegame and winter wars.

Winter wars has the breakthrough deck, but that is not needed to play Breakthrough, only recommended.

Standard size board is for 2 player

Breakthrough is deeper than standard, but still 2-player

Overlord is two standard sized boards put side to side to create a wide board and is for up to 8 players. Can be done with 2 basegames with decks shuffled together or use the Overlord deck available in Operation Overlord expansion. (The free downloadable Overlord stuff is the first edition) Boxed epansion has cards and tokens for armies.

But a genaral rule is: See an expansion you don't have, buy it before it goes out of print. Air Pack and CB1 especially.

Enjoy and ask more if you want to know.

I'll put in a few comments on some of the items.

Sayburr wrote:

Memoir ’44 Game – 2004 – Available - Owned

Overlord Rules – 2004 – Free Download
Nice to have. They explain recon in force amd some other cards better than the printed rules in the Operation Overlord

Terrain Pack – 2005 – Available - Owned
Used in a lot of scenarios in Air Pack and Campaign books.

Eastern Front – 2005 – Available - Owned
Very cool expansion with the commisar rules

Battle Maps Winter/Desert board– 2005 - Available - Owned
Used in cb1 and one scenario in cb2, also used in Eastern Front and Winter Wars. Campaign rules isn't needed as you have CB1.

Pacific Theater – 2006 - Available
Get it if you want to get CB2. Most of the scenarios from this expansion are used in the Island Hoppers campaign in cb2. I like playing with the Japanese. They are brutal in close combats.

Air Pack – 2007 – Out of Print, not going to be reprinted
Downloadable at www.daysofwonder.com and in CB2 and CB1 you only use the planes and not the tiles. But if you see it BUY IT!

Operation Overlord – 2008 – Out of Print, not going to be reprinted
Has the overlord deck and tokens to use with the Battle maps. If you want to play overlord the deck eases play very much.

Mediterranean Theater – 2008 – Available
Figures are used in CB2, but if you use americans you don't need this. I personally don't like the tank clash scenarios in this expansion, but the british have gotten some very good scenarios in The Bicycle Blitzkrieg form Cb2 and Invasion of Crete(downloadable from daysofwonder.com)

Campaign Book – Volume 1 - 2009 – Out of Print, not going to be reprinted
Awesome book. For those that don't own. See it, BUY IT!

Breakthrough 1 - 2010 – Available
List of required expansions for each scenario: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/523869/list-of-required-expa...

has a bunch of very cool scenarios, but requires a lot of expansions.
I think Breakthrough is a very good size for Memoir. can be played witout the BT deck from WW.

Winter Wars - 2010 – Available
Awesome scenarios and has the BT deck and winter Combat deck.

Campaign Book Volume 2 – 2011 – Available
If you are willing to use American figures in those scenarios that tells you to use British you only need Pacific Theater to play Island Hoppers, Bicycle Blitzkrieg, Fall of Poland and Air Aces(proxy planes when air rules are in effect) TO play Break through Normandy you need the Breakthrough Kit and Winter Wars if you want to use BT deck.

Anyway, any help to let me know how to proceed would be greatful.

The Vercors Campaign(excellent 5 scenario campaign on the french Resistance is downloadable from www.daysofwonder.com)

Just got back in town. Thanks for the great replies, you all have been great.

I found Operation Overlord for $10 at a game store yesterday. I also found Air Pack for $45 in Kingsport, I guess I need to go pick it up, I just heard a lot of people don't use it so I am not sure if I should make the trip for it.

While Operation Overlord in English is currently OOP in the US (and soon to be OOP in Europe), it is likely to be reprinted at some point. We just don't know quite when yet.

Thank you, I have updated the first post to reflect this.

Looks like I will purchase the following:

Campaign Book 2
Pacific Theater
Breakthrough
Winter Wars

and what the heck, might as well get Mediterranean also.

Thanks for the feedback and help everyone.
