I've been watching The Rat Patrol, trying to finish out the series and have a question about the vehicles I've been seeing.

Are the vehicles, specifically the German tanks and cars authentic? I'm not up on my WWII equipment and didn't know if they were using whatever was sitting around the lot or if they were trying to keep it real.

Thanks in advance.

Wikipedia says no: "As was usual for low-cost productions, other equipment was substituted for original ones. The German vehicles were actually American Patton tanks, M7 Priest self-propelled guns, M3 Half-track and M35 2-1/2 ton cargo trucks painted in desert sand colors."

K, first off, sorry about posting in the wrong forum. We are working on end of the year stuff and January is a nightmare for our business. I was looking at a different forum and my mouse finger twitched from the stress...

The Rat Patrol has been one of the shows I can play in the background while I'm working.

Thanks for the replies, and if people are bothered enough by where this post is at I can have it moved.

Real T-34's were used as honest-to-goodness T-34's in Cross of Iron. The Yugoslavian Army still had some in their arsenals at the time of filming for the movie in the mid-70's.

Thanks for the move.

All good information. I never thought about how hard it was to reproduce conflicts from the war on a large scale and having to use whatever equipment they could get a hold of in order to make a scene work.
