John Brant:

"Add 2 Native American units to any one area containing other Native American units. The area can be a British or American homeland area."

Hometown Support:

"Add 2 American Militia Units to one American Homeland Objective Area (even if enemy occupied).

Where can you take the units from?

Only from the force pool?

Also from the fled units space? Only if not enough units are in the force pool? (The "Ex" comment for "Hometown Support" seems to indicate that.)

Also from other areas? Only if not enough units are in the force pool / fled units space?

Same rules here for both cards?

The units come from the force pool.

If that is empty, there possibly could be units in the fled space (if the active players Muster Area are enemy occupied, and therefore not place earlier this turn)
Then you can take them from the fled space.

If both are empty, then you place what you can, and lose the rest. In this instance you are better off not playing the card.
