I found 8 boosters of magic cards, all sealed but one.

two boxes are green (with a barbarian-like guy on front)
three are white (with a lion-like warrior on front)
two are purple/red (with a sorceress like gal on front)
One is orange/yellow (with some fiery steampunky gal in front)

I don't play Magic. Shall I sell these boosters, or is it better to open them up and look for anything more valuable?

Is there still a Magic market?

The rules on the instructions say copyright 2008.

Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like shards of alara, but they should say what it is. You say booster in one and boxes in the other. If it is a pack of 15 cards they are worth about 3-4 dollars. If it is a box with 36 boosters of 15 cards. They are worth 80-120 bucks depending on what set.

Like Jerry says, it should say on the front.

Here's an Onslaught booster, for example:

Found? How unlikely is that? People don't leave boxes of Magic Cards at Bus-stops...

I don't know about bus stops, but I've left the odd one in a Dumpster.

I found these in a supply closet at my GF's work. She works for a art-for-kids facility, and companies/people donate all sorts of things to be used in the art programs.

They are moving, and left stuff they don't need/want, and I saw them so my GF said I could have them.

ANYWAY, ,

after searching the database, it looks like these are starter decks given away at some Toronto comic-con?

Anyone know the value, if anything?

I bet these are the decks they gave away at Comicon and such places. Some FLGSs will also give them away as a way to teach new players how to play the game.

Most don't have many chase cards, but I know the black ones years back had some Vampire Nighthawks ($1 ish). If that's what these are, I'd say give them to someone who can use them, since you're not gonna make a ton of money off them.

Or, if you've any inclination towards game design, Magic cards are the best sleeve backers in the world.

Actually I was hanging out in a warehouse for a local game company a few years back helping the owner move some stuff around... and he says "oh man look at this!" He pulls out a CASE of Revised. Sealed. He sold it promptly to Troll and Toad, much to my cringing. Had I the money at the time, I would have given him cash right there.
