Besides the "look" of the game, what are the main differences.

What is your favorite..why?

I want to get into this game, and am wondering which most would find the better buy.

I find both Wars' aerial combat interesting.

thx!

The main difference is in the planning and execution of moves:

WWI: Each round you plan 3 maneuvers in order, and once planning is complete, you execute the 3 orders in .. er ... order.

WWII: Initially you plan 2 maneuvers, and then
i) Resolve first maneuver and return to hand
ii) Slide face down, second maneuver to first maneuver position
iii) Place new second maneuver from hand
iv) Return to i)
So you are doing 'rolling orders' with a constant 1 order delay.

Other than that the differences are:
WWII has rules for speed as well
WWI uses cards for damage, WWII uses chits

The general consensus is that WWI plays more fun, and WWII plays more 'head down, really think about this maneuver'. Certainly I've found the same in my gaming group. If I were to choose just one, i think i would go with WWI for the more fun and interesting planes (and history), but we do enjoy both (in fact I'm currently having more requests to play WWII, but that might be because we've played it less)
