I like funky dice. Do they add to the fun of the game?

No. They are inexpensive damage counters.

You don't roll them for fighting or anything?

Nope. You get a couple hundred fun cards for that.

Nope. Just for tracking damage. I actually replaced mine as the random faced 20-sider doesn't really work well for this application.

No. You only use them (instead of counters/tokens) to keep track of damage to flagships.

I replaced mine as well after I found out that Magic players have a 20-sided dice that's a countdown marker where the numbers are in order. Makes it much quicker.

With all the shuffling, dealing, and rearranging cards (stacking them to see a ship's stats, for instance), I find that we bump the dice often. I'm thinking of using glass beads as damage markers instead.

I use those flattened glass tokens, myself. Love them.
