Double Variant? That's right we are gluttons for punishment.

Fall 39'

Opening setup.
France has played Variant 16(French armor)
The Allies still have one more left the Axis have yet to play theres.

We'll just cut straight to the chase Germany has taken Poland, with minimal loses and have deployed to the West.
Italy has DOW Yugo.

France prepares to use their new tanks across the Rhine.

Britain/France take an offensive in the West to create a line using the Rhine.
With no Maginot line the only defense is the extra French armor and the Rhine.

France brings the fight to the Germany!
The French Fleet was used to counter intercept the German fleets that intercepted the Royal Navy that sortied to the North Sea for the invasion of Norway.

The attack across the Rhine gives the French a bridgehead into Germany.

After SR the Allies build in France.

At this point the Allies are feeling pretty good about things,Britain has landed in Norway there is no turn flip flop thanks to the extra armor that France can build in fact France ran out of BRPs to spend!

[b]Winter 39'

Germany takes an offensive in the West

The Germans seeing an opportunity to get across the Rhine.
French air sorties to the defense.

The Germans secure the low countries and place a bridgehead into France.

The Germans got EX or ex on most of the attacks so far.....so the Airborne will have to wait till Spring.

France has some unit's cut off.

Britain pushes there Armor corp's to the front to liberate Brussels.
French forces in the south need to win a key battle to open supply for the French forces in the Bridgehead.

British tanks roll thru the streets of Brussels,French forces open the supply line.

At this point the front line in the West has "See-Sawed" back and forth.
The British have taken Norway, and still need to get more troops into France.

Spring 40'

The front line is getting crowded.
The YSS has the Axis with the initiative.

Germany takes an offensive in the West.

First half of Spring.

Axis 145 BRPs
Allies 226 BRPs

Well with the 16th Variant it gives the French extra forces,in fact in the Spring the Allies had more armor corp in the west then the Axis!

Take a look at the French 24th corp.
What you don't see is that our opponent has left Bremen open,an oversite that may turn out costly pic,s to follow.

Germany cuts off the Allied advance.

The Flip-Flop begins.
After much debate the Allies have decided to go for Berlin!

The Germans figured that the British had used up the fleets so Bremen would be safe but the French had a 6FF still available to carry a 2-3 inf corp to Bremen.
Believe it or not the Germans rolled a six! What are the odds?
I guess the lookouts for the Germans had to much Yager Miester so the French stormed the beach.

Ok part one has worked we slipped past the Kriegsmarine, now we need to open the supply line to the French army on the Rhine.

So far so good.

Don't you just love the Flip-Flop!
Brings back memories of this having been done to me is all I can think.

Well I thought about it for a second and then a nice feeling came over me. What's that feeling???

Ohhhhh it's the other side of the Flip-Flop.

Now I know how my opponent's have been feeling all this time.

That's why they ask for a another game.

Last half of the Flip-Flop coming soon.

Hopefully if the Allies capture Berlin, they will execute Hitler, and then my Axis will have saner minds planning the counter-offensive.

Yes, I am the hapless Axis player who has gotten himself into the situation where Germany might fall on turn four blush. (I suppose the fine play of the Allies might have something to do with it as well....)

Germany counter attacks Berlin on the 1:1 table.
Now folks for some of you that may not understand the 1:1 CRT there is a chance yes, a small chance that your attack can blow up in your face (rolling a 5)and there is a chance for your defender to be completely eliminated (rolling a6).

Do you like those odds?

The Allies do.
In fact before this whole scheme was hatched we (Patrick and I)knowing that the Germans would be able to counter attack at those odds went ahead with Operation "Sour the Kraut's"

The Germans pull forces from the East and send Used air so as to keep the 20 point Garrison.

Drum roll please...........

In Florians own word(s)
"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"

Could it be? yes a 5! Bells are ringing all over England!
Quote from Doug Poskitt

"High above the Third Reich mapboard, the Gods of War looked down on yet another game in progress.

"Got a daring Axis riposte to an audacious Allied thrust on Berlin going down here guys." Acrimonious said with a spiteful grin erupting on his face.

"Any truly critical attack?" Retribution asked in mock innonence.

"Yeah, a 1:1 counter-attack on an enemy-occupied Berlin - succeeds on anything but a 5. If the Kraut succeeds then he will be on a roll to even up the game. Quite brilliant really." replied Acrimonious.

"Well, what you waiting for Acrimonious, give the Kraut a 5." interjected Vengeful.

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.........................." was heard to echo in a painful wail far below the Gods of War.

"Another good job, boys. The Hand of Fate makes it's presence felt yet again. You think these boys on the battlefield would know by now." Belligerence congratulated the assembled Gods.
