I have a request.

I have access to a great IP (easy to figure out). I would like to eventually produce plastic mini's for the game. 28mm scale.

I have full access to high res versions of the subjects.

There are 10 mini's of which 8 are humanoid and 2 are alien but simple.

What I am looking for is someone with experience in creating the sculps to show proof of concept to the IP holder so that I can start getting pricing and all that.

If you have a good bit of professional experience sculpting mini's and are open for work, please post a link to your gallery so I can review it and find an artist to work with.

I too was wondering how to get in touch with sculptors, preferably local. I'm assuming shipping is hazardous for master molds! Surely there are some resources for this.

I started:

http://museum.theclubhouse1.net/sculptors.htm

It's an older list, so not everyone is still taking freelance work, but all the guys I spoke with were very helpful and referred me to others in the field if they weren't interested.

Also, the guys at http://theminiaturespage.com/ can point you in the right direction.

I'm a sculptor on that figure modeling list.
Be aware that a LOT of those guys are working in a much larger scale than gaming, as in 1/6th scale! Like me, they could possibly do it, but may not be into working that small.

www.facebook.com/vig.illustrationgraphics for recent stuff
www.here-there-be-monsters.net/ is the place to be if you want to buy some of my work that has been kitted by the talented hand of Dave.

How preferable is it to hire someone local? I'm assuming master copies you don't want being shipped...

bubble wrap is amazing stuff.

The reason molders like greenstuff is it's flexibility.

I'm not worried about local.
I went through the one list and wow, amazing sculpts but almost all of them do 1/6 or larger and one had examples of actual miniature size sculpts.

Then again, a3d artist would work if I had it 3d printed.

Are 3d printers of comparable detail? I wasn't impressed with the little searching I did, especially on surfaces. I'm sure larger model size would help. Do any current minis lines use 3d printing?

Shapeway's samples that I ordered had very nice details.
I'm hunting for what I would consider their most detailed miniature at @ 28mm scale

From what I've heard, moddler.com is the place to go for detailed sculpts. If you have a couple of months, I'll have my first character done and will have prints. My scale is a bit larger at thirty eight to forty five.
