We live near a creek (a drainage ditch, really), and I'd been told several times that there were foxes that lived near it. I was skeptical.

Last night I was returning from work at 111PM. As I drove down a nearby street I saw a pair of glowing eyes crossing in front of me. The eyes were attached to something big, perhaps a very large cat or a raccoon. It was too fast for a coon, and as I proceeded forward, the animal was running parallel to me and towards me. I thus got to see a beautiful fox: pointy face, fluffy tail, red color. Just like this:
(not my photo)

I'm so happy right now. Maybe this explains the poop I've been finding in the back yard...

Are you sure there haven't been any Gola sightings in your neighborhood?

We have loads in Glasgow - they scream at night when looking for love. A really scary way to wake up but jolly wonderful creatures.

EDIT:
Robert I've returned to this thread and tipped you as your comment is the best BGG thing I've read this year.

Our backyard borders a large parkland. We often have 6-7 Deer foraging in an easement just off our backyard. One time, one of the deer just laid down and died there. In the three days it took County Animal Control to come out to remove the carcass, the local foxes had made off with one if its hind legs, all the way up to its haunch.

Foxes are beautiful, but coming face to face with one with blood all over its muzzle is more than a little disconcerting.

We've got foxes in our neighborhood. When they latch on to a rabbit, the noise is deafening.

Ohhhh yes. A really creepy noise. Sounds like a child getting strangled.
Sorry people, but that's the creepiness level.

We had them for a while living under the barn, they ate our cat (I never found the head) The groundhogs moved in and scared them away. I found out later, groundhogs are the natural enemy of the fox... and Phils. GRRRR....

Really? That is so interesting.

When I say there are more foxes around, I mean they are in my sister in law's neighborhood near me, but we don't seem to have them in our neighborhood, but we do have a lot of groundhogs.
