A coworker and I were having this discussion

"And I knew I shouldn't have seen this movie, because it had Jessica Biel in it. She's never been in anything good."

There was a challenge and, after looking at the IMDB page (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004754/), I had to admit there was a grain of truth (although some liked The Illusionist).

So, consider this the Jessica Biel challenge. Which actor/actress (with some name recognition) gets the most work, but is never in anything good?

Gwyneth Paltrow - after her meteoric rise, she has gone way downhill. And I didn't think that Shakespeare in Love was THAT great!

Elvis Presley. It's like the films were just some kind of wrapper for his songs.

I hereby award you infinite thumbs.

It's not that his movies are no good. It's that he actively ruins them. gulp

Gerald Butler has a pretty poor record, but has been in a lot of movies in the past couple years.

Which makes them varying degrees of awesome! Viva Las Vegas is a stone classic. Mmm... Ann-Margret...

Nick Cage is close to a lock; I think the 25-year caveat was designed to allow Raising Arizona. Looking at Busey's credits make me wonder how the hell he's a household name; the cat's been coasting on The Buddy Holly Story, I reckon. Gwyneth doesn't belong on this list at all; she's got a solid body of work, all through her career. A case could be made for Ewan, though Trainspotting and Moulin Rouge defy the idea that he's never been in anything worthwhile...

Was wondering about the 25 year to Raising Arizona ratio myself. I think Matchstick Men* is a pretty good film though. And Adaptation. It's just when he kicks it up a notch and goes all "ACTING!!!" as Calculon may say.

Also, as to Mr. Busey. Apparently you all aren't familiar with a little movie I like to call Preadator 2. I'm pretty sure he won an Oscar that year for best supporting actor.

*Cough* Kick-Ass *Cough*

Also, while not technically good movies, he's in a ton of my guilty pleasure movies (all within the last 25 years):
It Could Happen To You
Con Air
Face/Off
Drive Angry
etc.

Edit: Also, to be fair, it's not really his acting that makes Kick-Ass good...

This is true, but I must admit The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans was pretty entertaining (if not technically "good").
