December 1914 Here is the current situation on the Serbian front.

The Austria-Hungarian forces are still thin on the ground and out numbered and out-gunned by their invaders. Once again, they do not have many options outside of digging trenches and attempting to widen their line to avoid the encircling maneuvers that have been a mainstay of the Serbians "Operation David".

End of AH turn

The Serbs again push their line forward, and begin another flanking maneuver at both ends of the AH line. The advancing alone does not put any units out of supply, but they are hoping that an attack will gain them more ground and once again put AH forces in isolation.

End of Serbian Movement

The attack is a 1:1 attack 5 to 5 with no modifiers against FF23. The result is a 6! Yay, sixes are good! Or are they? The DX results eliminates all units on both sides. In retrospect, a low odds attack with two infantry alone would have had more success with DD result, and capture of the hex.

Post combat

The Serbs are not able to advance further this turn, but they did cause more AH casualties (and their army has been severely depleted to date), while the Serbians can easily replace their current losses.

The end of 1914 finds the various combatants in the following situations, all of which have a bearing on the Serbian plans.

End of Interplayer Turn Serbs replace their combat losses in Budapest

Meanwhile, the Russians are pressing on three fronts against Germany and Austria-Hungary. After recently capturing Konigsberg, they have their sites set on Danzig. They have also achieved a breakthrough bringing them to the gates of Breslau, and are beginning the long march to Budapest.

Finally, the latest French offensive has devastated the French line in the North (the French have not abandoned the "French Offensive Doctrine" just yet). It waits to be seen if Germany can capitalize on this opportunity.

Re: March on Budapest - another month, another hex closer (and that's quite something for GoA!) plus news and photos of other fronts
The Central Power is currently considering racing the French to zero west front counters.
