The development of the Rise of the Ancients expansion moves forward, and it now looks like we'll have a possibility to provide some normal Ship Parts in it. Since there have been reports of people running out of certain Ship Parts, I thought it'd be helpful to do a small poll on which parts run out most often. Let's hear from you then!

A recommendation for the expansion could be to double side the upgrades:

Hull/Improved Hull
+1 Computer/+2 Computer (30%) +2 Computer/+3 Computer (70%)
-1 Shield/-2 Shield
Ion Cannon/Plasma Cannon (50%)/ Plasma Cannon/Anti-Matter Cannon (50%)

For missiles I would just add more missiles (depending on how many players you are adding).

We tested this during the base game prototype phase and while it sounded like a good idea, unfortunately pretty much everyone thought it was more annoying than helpful. With "binary" Ship Parts, such as Hull and Improved Hull or Gauss Shield and Phase Shield, it works fine, but with the rest it gets quite confusing.

You don't have an option in your poll for those of us that have not run out of upgrades.

I have played 2x 4-player games, 2x 5-player games and 2x 6-player games.

Improved hull is the most spammed upgrade followed by plasma missiles.

We ran out of normal hulls in a 5 player game because improved hull refused to show in the available techs.

So, I don't suppose you are planning to include extra dice?

(or can someone point me to where I can get the same colored dice from)

I was planning on getting another copy of the original game just for spare parts and dice, but sadly the game is hard to get now!

French copies can still be found easily, if you just need the language independent parts.

Please don't.
As is the upgrades resiliant to casual displacent, messing up the ship states.
If they were double sided it would be much harder to recreate the correct position after an accident.

Only had 4 games (with 4 players) so far, but we ran out of the +2 computer twice in the same game.

Oh and a few yellow/orange dice in another game.

How about extra dice? I think 2 of each dice would suffice, maybe 4 orange. With the base game, we occasionally need a few more plasma cannon dice, also when players go heavy plasma missiles. With the supernova expansion, we run low on yellow dice when players use ion missiles with lots of ships.

I've also had the privilege to take part in the playtesting the upcoming expansion, and with 7-9 players, along with all the new material, I think more dice would be welcomed by many.

I'd gladly pay a bit more for the expansion if it came with more dice.
