France of course. But what would you expect from a French Marshal.

It's got to be FRANCE. I am a convicted Francophile who was let out on parole for good behaviour. I have a Napoleonic French Division in 20-1 scale using 28mm figures and a Louis XIV (Looey Carthorse) army in 40-1 scale also using 28mm figures.

I even have a self-painted French BattleLore army:

Austria.

They shouldered the main burden of facing up to the Corsican ogre on land throughout the Wars.

What is it that all you Americans seem to admire about Napoleon. A great general, I grant you but on every other measure a terrible role model, terrible for France most of all. It must the the latent revolutionary in you all...

I'm French. I love to play France.

That said, I like playing England too. Naval warfare is fascinating, and if the English can survive the first French naval onslaught and get back into the catbird seat, the English strategy is very interesting.

Spain is fun because it's unconquerable. Of course, as the French I NEVER invade Spain. It's pointless. If the English are still in the game, they can always stop you by intervening on some coastal city with a huge army. And if the English are NOT still in the game, you've already won as France!

England is always the proper objective of France.

Russia can be defeated, but it's hard. Not impossible, like Spain, but hard. It's easier to defeat Russia and Spain in the respective scenarios than it is in the Grand Campaign game because of the power of British sea transport.

France's proper objective in the Campaign Game is London. Take out England, and the war is over.
