I am currently bashing away at the single-player campaigns of the following games:

Mass Effect 3
Skyrim
Zelda: Skyward Sword
Dead Island
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Mario Party 9
I Am Alive
Kingdoms of Amalur

And I'm sure I'm missing a few more. Combined, these games add up to a single-player playthrough of about 500 hours! No wonder why I have such a back-log of games to get through......

Someday, hopefully soon, you and I will sit down (or stand, if you prefer) and play some Mario Party 9. You just have to be patient and wait for me to get over there!

yup. and tonight? I'm cleaning the house.

I want to start a house cleaning subthread but I'm embarrassed to. I like comparing efficient strategies, overarching strategies, etc.

Keeping the house clean with kids running around and 2 working parents is very hard to do. I like talking tips and tricks.

As a single bachelor, I would love cleaning tips and tricks.

If people want to know how to fold/iron clothes and polish boots, I'm your man!

I'm in the military. Besides looking sharp, I also don't see the point, but I do know that the polish helps prolong the life of the leather.

Our tips so far: learn to live in squalor.

(But really, I would read said thread. Add in a dog in our house that's shedding all the time and cleanup is a pretty constant thing. We'd added chores and an allowance for our eldest, but her help is sporadic.)

I bought a decent pair of dress shoes for my wedding. I take good care of them and now, going on 15 years later, they are like new. I only wear them

Hire someone.

I hate to be the yuppy capitalist here, but I'm with Jage on this. Hiring bi-weekly house-cleaners has been one of the best things that I think Ruth and I have ever done for our mental well-being and relationship. Chores stress people out, and very few people like 'em. They're one of the main reasons of relationship distress, behind finances. We accepted going out to eat less to pay for housecleaners and it's made a world of difference. We still do some general tidying and whatnot, but all the vacuuming, mopping, dusting, etc. drudgery that never seems to get done is off our shoulders.

Today is work and continuing the struggle with allergies that's started since the sudden upswing in temperature this week. Tomorrow, Ruth will be going out to dinner after work, so I expect I'll be playing more Mass Effect 3. This weekend... I 'unno? Maybe a movie; I still want to see The Secret World of Arietty.

Sometime in the next couple weeks we'll probably be going to see the Shen Yun performing arts troupe in DC, they look really awesome.

I don't polish shoes or iron clothes.

I pretty much only wear one pair of shoes for everything. I buy a pair of Docs and wear them day in and day out for years, and then buy a similar pair when they wear out.

Do you share your other shoes with other people?

Of course, the people with financial troubles are the ones who can't afford to hire help anyway.
