After my last (which was my first) season of Doctor Who, I couldn't wait to start over with a new doctor! I added in Scaling, Storylines, and Infinite Quests optional rules and expansions (though I've yet to get a quest), and as the season went on the doctor visited adventures in a couple of the other expansions.

Here are the first 5 adventures in my 10 adventure season! Favorite moment? Having enough luck points to draft Agatha Christie as a permanent companion. It was a Doctor Who dream come true.

Adventure 1: a443 Earth-1930
The Doctor landed in The Big Apple and couldn’t wait to explore the city. After running into an actress on the way to a performance, The Doctor decided to tag along. After the show Tallulah and the Doctor hit up a restaurant and even exchanged an uncharacteristic romantic interlude. Before the romance could develop too far, however, the couple’s date was interrupted by a rampaging group of Slitheen! While the rest of the tourists ran the Doctor did what he did best – talk! It didn’t take much for him to convince them simmer down, and with just a little bit of digging he was able to uncover they were attempting to escape galactic justice! One more round of talking and he sent them shuttling off to another planet. Absolutely enthralled, Tallulah jumped at the chance to seen the stars and the two jumped in the TARDIS and took off! (6 Turns)

Adventure 2: a404 Earth-2006
As far as a trip through time and space goes, jumping 70 years in the future to the same planet was just a hop, skip, and a jump for the Doctor. The Doctor seemed to know that something very important was going to go down that day, even if he wasn’t sharing with Tallulah. Within moments of setting down the Doctor had waltz directly to the base of Sycorax where they were plotting their alien invasion. Even though numerous encounters with UNIT failed to elicit any support it looked like the Doctor was on track to wrap up the invasion without even breaking a sweat. A major roadblock was hit when the Doctor found himself struggling to research what he needed to end the threat. Tallulah was proving to be no help in the computer department; the Doctor stuck his head outside and grabbed the first person he saw – Rose Tyler. After explaining the bare minimum to Rose, she was ready to commit but suggested they enlist her boyfriend Mickey to help out. After finding Mickey they quartet was preparing to get to work when the Sycorax dropped in. A quick scuffle resulted in Mickey and the Doctor getting knocked out. When they came too they found themselves in a workcamp set up by the Sycorax… which seemed like a perfect Cliffhanger!

While enslaved the characters were forced to help the Sycorax prepare for their invasion. The Doctor was hard at work sabotaging the invasion, however, and only when he had accomplished his goals did her break the gang out – and they brought with them two of their fellow prisoners: Toshiko Sato and a spunky Harriet Jones! After a run in with blood control the Doctor had to double back and re-rescue Tosh and Mickey, but from there it was straight to the Sycorax Leader to convince them to leave… or else! Not wanting to fight the Doctor and his team the aliens packed up and hit the stars running. Rose stayed on, and with Tallulah accompanied the Doctor as he entered the vortex. (18 Turns)

Adventure 3: a414 Kroptor-4102
Before the TARDIS touched ground there was trouble brewing! Tallulah was not loving Rose’s presence in the spaceship. Once the doors opened she was off on her own to clear her head. The Doctor was clueless of Tallulah’s anger and ran off in the opposite direction with Rose! The Doctor and Rose met a pair of Engineers who agreed to show them around even though they were both concerned about a communications fault at their facility. Meanwhile, Tallulah was barely convincing the group of soldiers she encountered from arresting her! A bad storm that gave her a horrible cold was the last straw for the singer and she decided to head back to the TARDIS. The Doctor and Rose started to investigate the communications failure but something was wrong, and they decided to head back to the TARDIS! Halfway there they found their path blocked, but a bit of exploring lead them right to a secret base of the Racnoss! Tallulah found herself lost in the wilderness and encountered her own Racnoss! A bit of hiding and following led her to the enemy base as well. After ducking a swarm of pilot fish she and the Doctor were finally reunited. Another encounter with the Empress of the Racnoss allowed the Doctor to trick the spider to reveal her plan – invade Kroptor! After a stirring pep talk that boosted the courage of the trio, the Doctor led the charge and confronted the Racnoss. With a bit of luck they were able to drive them from the planet – but Tallulah had had enough! She demanded to be dropped back off in New York. Her time in the TARDIS was up. (6 Turns)

Adventure 4: a438 New Earth 5,000,000,023
After dropping off Tallulah the Doctor treated Rose to a trip to a different New York – New, New York. Despite claiming he knew his way around the city the doctor got them lost. Luckily they stumbled across the cat-person sister Novice Hame who led them to a medical laboratory. A crazed scientist agreed to show them around as well, though something about him was a bit off. The Doctor was pleasantly surprised to find that the ice warriors had an alien ambassador within the city but it soon became apparent that the whole lab was some sort of front! Someone didn’t like the Doctor digging around, however, and the Zygons revealed themselves. Adding to the shock was that their scientist friend was really a Zygon in disguise! Despite what the heroes thought, the Zygons were not behind the medical laboratory front, but was instead looking for a fugitive on the planet – and they didn’t care who was in their way. Slipping away The Doctor and Novice Hame began concocting a solution to use against the Zygons while Rose kept watch. Armed with some brain boosting syrum the Doctor confronted the Zygon leader and ran mental circles around them until they left. (6 Turns)

Adventure 5: a446 Earth 1926
Scale: Suspicion
Splitting up Rose ran into a pair of siblings: An aristocratic lady who agreed to show Rose around the property and a busy businessman who could only spare a few words. The Doctor found a much less appealing scene – a brutal murder scene! Following the clues the Doctor found a secret passage, though before he could follow it to its source he ran into a familiar face – Tallulah! She agreed to go along with him for the time being, though she was still acting cold towards him, and the two entered the secret passage. Rose was introduced to the other guests on the property by her new friend, including the one and only Agatha Christie! Rose was such a gushing fan that Ms. Christie agreed to accompany the two ladies around for a bit. Elsewhere Tallulah and the Doctor followed to passage to its source and found a makeshift base set up by the Family of Blood! The Doctor was able to talk their way out of a confrontation – but could it be that Son of Mine was just waiting for reinforcements? Rose, Ms. Christie, and the lady were just meeting another gentleman when the Doctor and Tallulah showed up. A squad of scarecrows showed up soon after – and they were not willing to talk or take prisoners. The Doctor found a way to escape the battle, but when the others couldn’t get away he jumped right back into the fight. The Doctor’s team’s superior numbers allowed them to tear the scarecrows to pieces, but not without the gentleman from suffering a serious wound and Agatha being stunned by a glancing blow. Running, the Doctor led his little band through a VIP reception where two of the guests slipped off after them to see what was happening – the astute maid Gwyneth and another businessman. The Family of Blood headed them off before they could make it to the TARDIS and they revealed that whatever their plan was originally, it was now to hunt down a time lord. Demonstrating some uncharacteristic gloating, the Doctor confronted the Family of Blood once and for all, and convinced them to abandon their plans while they still had a choice! So impressed with the Doctor’s brilliant whit Agatha Christie asked to stay with him and Rose for a bit, and left with them in the TARDIS. (10 Turns)

I’ve come to really appreciate Luck points, and have used them to save the Doctor or his companions several times. Initially I thought Scaling would make encounters too difficult, but that hasn’t been the case at all. In these next adventures I even dipped into one of the expansions – Adventures in History. I found it fit seamlessly into the other adventures.

Adventure 6: YA04 – Earth 1505
Scale: Enemy Strength, Enemy Strength
The doctor successful navigated the TARDIS to Renaissance Florence as a treat for their new companion Agatha Christie. Right away the Doctor took his two companions on a tour of the city, but his curiosity got the better of him. Abandoning their plans for a quiet Florentine holiday, the Doctor led the way into a closed off catacomb and discovered a sealed tomb. A little bit of muscle was enough to force their way inside, but the resulting landslide left Agatha wounded! What a way to start a holiday! Ms. Christie was not one to be deterred, however, and the author led the way deeper into the Tomb. A bit of exploring revealed that this tomb wasn’t abandoned at all, but instead was being used by the displaced Scientist Hephaestus. Rose bumped into three Time Agents who were working to return Hephaestus to his own time line, and her youthful charm was enough to convince them to partner with the Doctor. The Time Agents also had some very useful information: Hephaestus was exploiting a wound in the time line to catapult himself out of the past, but in doing so he might break time apart! The Time Agents, Rose, and Agatha split off to plan a way to close Hephaestus’ malfunctioning wormhole while the Doctor kept Hephaestus busy. Despite some distraction from another group of Time Agents who were not nearly as keen on sharing a bounty as the first agents were, the research team was able to get the wormhole stable. By now the doctor and Hephaestus were grand ol’ friends, and it only took a forceful bit of advice from the time lord to convince Hephaestus to leave Florence straight away. (11 Turns)

Adventure 7: a427 - Sanctuary 2765
Scale: Deadly Enemy, Enemy Support
Stepping out of the TARDIS onto the temperature planet called Sanctuary, the Doctor was inspired to share with his two ladies some legends and fables about the temples that dotted the forests. Among them the Chronovore Isis was trapped, and he was certain she was trying to escape her temporal prison! The Doctor led the way to the Temple in question. Despite his Psychic Paper and the charms of both Rose and Agatha, Priests and High Priests alike demanded their surrender. Fortunately their bark was worse than their bite, and when the trio walked on past no one stopped them. Finally exploring the inner tomb of the temple the Doctor was certain his fears were correct. As a final bit of confirmation the Besitial Force that was one of Isis’ incarnations attacked! Feeding on time itself the beast aged Agatha and Rose both, causing them to become weak – and terrified! Enough was enough for the Doctor. He demanded to see Isis in her beautiful, but terrible, full embodiment. After exchange words the Doctor banished her deeper into her temporal prison, but in return Isis placed a curse on him. The bleak prophecy could mean only one thing – the doctor’s time was coming to an end…

Adventure 8: a420 London – 1599
Scale: Bad Luck, Enemy Strength
What better way to unwind from combating a disgruntled Chronovore than a visit to an ancient English tavern? Agatha was not quite enjoying the rowdy venue, but Rose was living it up and she soon became a favorite among the barmaids of the tavern. The Doctor only had to ask a few targeted questions among Rose’s new friends to discover something strange was afoot. Grabbing the uncomfortable mystery writer, the Doctor took off into the street to investigate while Rose stayed behind. Following a trail of strange and sometimes violent clues, the Doctor soon stumbled upon the base of operations for a small group of Sycorax! While at the base Agatha overheard the Sycorax reveal that they were hunting a fugitive – and they didn’t care who got in their way. A sneaky approach proved wise, and the Doctor and Agatha were able to hide from the Sycorax while they researched the engineering of the Sycorax base. Just before they felt like they could take out the whole operation without any violence, Rose and a wave of wenches came looking for the Doctor. Unable to hide that many loud women the Doctor was forced to confront the Sycorax directly. Despite having the alien’s blood control freeze Ms Christie and a Wench in place, the Doctor gave the Sycorax two choices: leave or be annihilated. The Sycorax chose the former and the people of London were once again safe (never mind where that fugitive got to). The Doctor told Rose to pack up and say goodbye to the barmaids, but Rose had a surprise of her own – she wanted to stay behind in 1599. A tearful goodbye was shared between Agatha and Rose, but the Doctor waits for no one. Off he went into the time vortex. (9 Turns)
