I own both, and my last game I finally "understood" Homesteaders. Both games are now my top strategy games that I own.
Which do you like better? Both are awesome, but can you share why one is more awesome-er than the other? (This thread is meant to celebrate how good both games are, not to detract or bash either.)

I liked them both - they have a lot of the mechanics I like in games - but I liked Carson City better. It's more directly competitive, which I liked. It didn't let me down in any way; Homesteaders let me down because it had economic engine building (which I really like) but it felt really weird because the components (1st edition) didn't feel like they "fit" . I'm not really sure if I can explain what I mean by that - maybe it was like trying to play a game of chess, but on a rippled piece of cloth with a bunch of foreign coins for pieces? It just felt odd.
