Hi all,

I will be attending an expo this weekend (PAX East) and will be stopping by the Chessex booth to buy some flashier dice for some of my games.

If I end up buying all of the figures and expansion maps for Tannhauser, are the 6 d10 included with the base game enough? Would I need to get more d10s? Will I run into situations where I need d6s, d8s, etc?

My personal experience says 10 dice per player is best.

I use Chessex D10s that came in packs of 10, and some W.O.D. dice that have the 8,9,0 highlighted in red, also came in 10 packs.

I just bought the Revised Edition of Tannhauser last week and my game only came with 2 D10, instead of the 6 I saw in an online video review of it. I bought 6 more, so now I have 8 D10s, 4 black, and 4 red, but I just wanted to point out that there might be less dice in the Revised Edition.

Am I alone in only getting 2 D10's? Should I have gotten 6?

agreed, 6 dice is kind of a pain - better if each player has at least 8 of their own dice imo.

at Origins, I stopped by the Chessex booth and picked up some dice for each faction, and glad I did so:

Union: Chessex Vortex Blue w/ Gold

Matriarchy: Chessex Vortex Burgundy w/ Gold

Reich: Chessex Velvet Smoke w/ Red

probably going to get Gemini Red&White w/ Gold for Shogunate

apparently it does only come with 2 dice now....from FFG's product description page:

Tannhäuser includes:

1 copy of the Tannhäuser Revised Edition Rulebook
A double-sided map board, designed for use with the Pathfinding system
10 finely detailed pre-painted miniatures
10 illustrated character sheets
2 ten-sided dice
162 game counters

the old, "1st, TOY Ed" had 6.

I like the way you did this. The game has only 4 factions right now, correct? Union, Matriarchy, Reich, and Shogunate?

yes only the 4 factions at this time, and I'd be very surprised if they announced another anytime soon.

if you're playing the standard game (w/ 2 players/sides), 10 dice in 2 colors means attacker & defender will always have enough dice to roll their own dice once (not have to re-roll for remaining required dice) and leave them on the table to compare easily.

That's also the case with 4 players since there's one attack & shock roll or mental duel at a time between 2 characters, and 20 dice is usually enough to go around with minimal passing back & forth.

Thanks! I was able to pick up 10 dice of each specific color type listed in your post at the Chessex booth at PAX, including Gemini red/white with gold for Shogunate.
