By the way, in case you spotted this game on The Hotness and wondered, the title is printed on the box in Cyrillic (nice touch) and transliterates as "Cosmos" (Russian for "Space"). I thought I'd mention that in case anyone is confused about the title.

On the Seinfeld TV show, his neighbor is Cosmo Kramer - so several would be Cosmos. KOCMOC = COSMOS

Sorry to say but if this game is released in the US with the Russian title, it will always be "Cock Mock", irrespective of the designers intent.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the above sentiments. As a small publisher (books) I have only one really absolute rule regarding our titles - do no harm. If the title will even potentially turn away sales, it's a no-go. A bland title isn't great obviously, but it's better than a potentially exciting one that might destroy sales.

It's cock-mock, regardless of what the designers intended, and that's going to harm sales. I heartily recommend changing it, if that's still possible at this point...

Since "KOCMOC"is the Cyrillic lettering, I wouldn't think there would be any problem with the publisher using COSMOS as the name for the English edition. After all, doesn't Bollox use a different name in the UK because of the..errr...connotations of the name?

Otherwise, it will end up on this geeklist:

I don't find "Cock Mock" to be a very appealing game title.
Odd decision if they keep that name for the English-speaking market.

Oh come on... I don't see people turn down "pee-war" because of the title...
The spelling is far from "cock mock" and like a lot of previous poster has said... it's pronounced "kosmos" so I don't see the problem...

The next release is going to be titled "FUCK"
But it's cool, because the designer assures us it's pronounced "Fish"

While passing interests in the space race and in alphabets and occasionally hanging out with some Russians let me recognise it was a non-English word in a non-Latin alphabet, Cyrillic космос will be read as Latin KOCMOC.

Orthographically, the Cyrillic and Latin are all but indistinguishable in this word. Aside from the slight curve on the upper member of the initial letter in the first word vs the straight member of the second word, in the font my computer is displaying this page in there is no difference. I wouldn't expect any but a very few English speakers (or readers of Latin or Cyrillic alphabets) to ascribe the presence of a straight member vs a curved member as anything but personal preference.

Ohh, I reckon the ladies in the audience would be able to weigh in a little more decisively on this issue.

*rimshot* gulp yuk shake C'mon the name looks...the way it looks. Somebody had to run with it.

It’s obvious the name of this game it’s a problem for the USA market.
Never occurred to us that there could be a problem with this name. But obviously we were mistaken. We’re always learning :-)

So, we are going to propose a NEW name for this game.
Please, take a look to the new forum and vote on your choice.

Well, "kocmoc" (in latin spelling) isn't an English word and it doesn't look like an English word, so nobody will think that it is English. No problem
