Ok, I just saw this:

http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=3203

Why would they need to change the name? Ugg-tect isn't nearly as clever as Aargh!Tect.

Now we wait for the people to come in and complain that:

a) Stronghold would do it better
b) FFG is only interested in milking the customers of all their money so expect an expansion, as the game will probably require one to be playable.
c) FFG will bloat the rules and add un-needed chrome.
d) The back story should be changed. I will not buy it because it portrays my species of origin in a negative light.

Aargh! is a comical sound of frustration in modern comics.

Ugg is a sound traditionally associated with cavemen.

While the original name is more clever, I feel that the new name retains enough of the pun while working better linguistically.

I agree. I would have not even got the pun if I didn't know the original name.

Aargh!Tect is a much better name for this game. This change was no needed... but it's FFG so change something they must.

Either way this looks like a purchase for me.

I complete agree with the inferior name-change. They also appear to have made all of the art more busy and harder to instantly read, but whatever.

No kidding! I've come so close many times to buying the import edition that isn't in english because I've wanted this one. So glad it is finally coming to the states.

And me too, of course. So fun to read the evolution of this name...
My first working title was Urk!tekt, with orks instead cavemen and an "i" turned in "!"
Heidelberger edition has changed it in Aargh!Tect, conquering the first places in alphabetical order lists.
In France it become Aargh!Tecte
In Spain it's called Trogloditargh http://www.boardgamegeek.com/video/6867/aarghtect/spot-telev...
And now Ugg-Tect...
Who know what will be the next name?

Heh, weird decision to change the name. Why not go for a whole new name instead of simply ruining the joke?

Based on my highly reliable source*, it was because Christian wanted a game that started with a U in the FFG catalog.

I would have preferred Ugg-A-Tect, but the name doesn't matter as much as being able to get this easily. ^_^

I've just thought up a much better name for this game; STYLE IS THE GOAL. All this ugg and aargh nonsense is insulting to prehistoric man.

Actually, I have never found the name aargh!tect to be satisfactory. It doesn't quite scan right and it was impossible to say without making it sound like a pirate game. With the minor improvement suggested above (by anarchy), Ugga-Tect would have been just right.

They are contractually obligated with the great Satan to do this to any game they are involved with. Otherwise a wormhole would appear and suck the founders into a hell of everlasting torment in a pure white cube.

as an architect, I bought the game after I finished my last liscencing exam.

However I do have to agree the ! in the middle of the name was annoying.

Ugg-tect loses the pun so that kinda sucks too tho....
