Has anyone played both? I'm contemplating buying one of them or both if I can't decide. I'm wondering what some of the pros/cons with each are in comparison to the other.

They are completely different, except for theme. I highly recommend reading this review:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/508198/wars-of-the-roses...

and watching this video:

to get a feel for what these games offer. For me, Wars of the Roses is the keeper.

anyone also play Crown of Roses?

Is that more of a wargame while Lancaster v York has more of a worker placement feel?

There is no worker placement at all in any of these games. I'm not sure where you got that from.
