My brother and another friend are going to be joining me. We will take up to three more players.

I'll be "DMing", posting board positions between turns, etc.

Everyone that is joining, roll a 6d6, and I'll assign characters based on your rolls. That will determine your player and starting position (doing 6d6 for multiple tiebreakers). After giving it some thought, we're going to do these house rules:

- Everyone starts with 5 gold instead of 3

- We're using progressive experience to speed up an already slow format that is PBF. If we have 3-4 players, it will be 1 exp for level 2, 2 exp for level 3, 3 exp for level 4, and so on. If we have 5-6 players, we will start on level 2 and use the same progression (1 exp for level 3, 2 exp for level 4, etc.). If we have 5-6 players, be sure to announce what level you're taking before you start.

- You have 48 hours to post when its your turn or you are out of the game (with one warning first). I'm going to be as lenient as I can be. Even a simple "I can't take my turn right now, be back Tuesday" or "I'm going to be on vacation with my family for 2 weeks" would extend the deadline. I just don't want people disappearing completely without notice. Likewise, if you no longer feel like playing, bow out openly rather than make everyone else wait.

Edit: Also this is the "gathering" thread. Once the game starts I'll start a new thread.

edit: Apparently there was an easier way to do 6d6 Also don't know how much randomization this added, 20, 22, 23, we just need Carey's brother to roll 21

Hah, well I'm basing it off the first number rolled, with second number tie breaker, third number tie breaker for that, etc. There was certainly an easier way to do that, but it was late when I decided on this way.

So currently you're in the lead with 5, I have 4, and Drew has 2.

I think 4 is a good number to play. It will go Kevin, Carey, Mishu, Drew. I'll start a new thread with all the starting draws, and then ramble on a bit about how things will work.

Hey guys looking forward to a fun game...

According to page 4 of the rules step 12 we all should have started with 4 gold (instead of 3), 1 flare crystal, 1 luckstone, and 1 snowshoe.

I know we housed rule starting gold to 5 but should we all have the extra survival gear or not?

Also, I am on the east coast and usually work 2nd shift. I probably won't get my moves in until later in the day (unless I sneak online during work) -- probably good I am going last.

It doesn't say in the Rulebook so you may not know this: The distribution of Rumor tokens is 4 of each terrain type (excluding cities) and 13 wilds.

It looks like there might be a bug that will prevent us from doing multiple rolls per submit. Drew, if you click on your second roll, it actually rolled 2d10+4 instead of 2d10+2 (don't worry, it didn't affect the game). Unless you can link this to something you might have done, we should probably just do one roll per submit.

2d10+4 = (10 + 3) + 4 = 17
2d10+2 = (7 + 1) + 2 = 10
2d10+1 = (7 + 6) + 1 = 14

Edit: Well it worked for me. Guess maybe it was just a typo before?

I knew I typo'ed that and was going to just -2 from the roll if it my missile attack failed.

Ok, so Kevin just drew an item that says "activate when hiring an ally to hire that ally for 3 gold less than the ally's printed cost"

He has an "always on" penalty on his character that "allies cost an additional 3 gold to hire"

If he bought this item, it would be my interpretation that activate cards interrupt always on cards, and so if there was an ally that has a printed cost of 5, it would cost him 8 due to his "always on" penalty, and then he could activate his item to "hire that ally for 3 gold less than the ally's printed cost", allowing him to buy the ally for 2 gold. It's the word "printed" that makes me interpret it this way. If it just said "cost" I would say +3 then -3.

Does anyone disagree with this interpretation?

I would think the "printed cost" would compute first, and then "additional" would compute second. Because the "printed cost" directly correlates with the card, and "additional" is more of an after-thought addition.

So printed cost is 5. So, that's 2. And then add an additional 3, to make it 5.

But if the printed cost is 3, it would lower it to 1, since that's the minimum, and his racial would bring it up to 4. Pretty much it would nullify his racial, except for when it's 3 or less printed cost.

That's my thoughts.

I think you're right, that would make sense. It's "always on" so it would still be on after the activation.

Is it worthwhile to maybe include a turn number on our posts, just to make sure everyone knows what turn we are on when we jump ahead while other people are finishing up there turns?

Since Kevin went ahead and counted, I guess we'll announce what turn we're on

Also, forage items count as regular items, correct? So if I had two pelts that were activate to cancel 1 frost, I could only use one of them in the survival phase, right?

Also, I've got finals this coming week, so I'm going to try to restrict myself to only checking this game every 3-4 hours or so, so I don't get too distracted from my boring studies
