I own "the screw on head" movie. Love it.
I think they should make a "wormwood" movie.

Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse
Ben Templesmith's comic "Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse" walks a fine line between icky and funny, and it walks it very well. Wormwood is a tiny, sentient worm that pilots a rotting corpse (complete with inverted pentagram carved into its forehead) around, steering from his vantage-point in the corpse's right eye-socket. His sidekicks include a clanking mechanical steampunk android with a fetish for small arms and an ultra-violent stripper who can cause wings to burst forth from her back.

They fight crime.

Of course.

I think Y: the last man, would make a wonderful maxi-series.

Also, sad to see Locke & Key go down in flames. that pilot was what got me interested in the comic. I have the first graphic novel, and plan to purchase the second when the next Walking Dead GN comes out.

I think that all right-thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that ordinary, decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am.

I still have a copy of the first (and second?) issue of that comic.

I also have copies of these other TMNT parodies:

Geriatric Gangrene Jiu-Jitsu Gerbils
Pre-Teen Dirty Gene Kung Fu Kangaroos
Cold-Blooded Chameleon Commandos

Can't imagine that any of these would make good movies.

I Am Number Four's D.J. Caruso to Direct Preacher
Posted 02.24.11 by Ryan

An live-action adaptation of Preacher has been in the works for years, with Columbia Pictures hiring Sam Mendes to direct the movie in October 2008. Then in January 2009, screenwriter John August announced that he had been hired to write a screenplay adaptation. But the project went nowhere after Mendes dropped out of Preacher to direct the upcoming James Bond 23.

Now I Am Number Four director D.J. Caruso has used Twitter to announce he's been hired to direct the adaptation.

My deal just closed on Preacher. Going back to the dark side and pretty f**king pumped!

While Caruso's Twitter isn't "verified" to be official by the site, so far no report has been issued to refute the announcement. Prior to Caruso's Tweet, the director told Comic Book Resources earlier this month that he the property.

I love the Wild West, man. I really love Preacher. It's fantastic. I think that's what would sell me [on taking on a comic book project again]. I don't know if this is still what's going on with it, but Sam was going to direct it, Sam Mendes, and John August was writing the screenplay.

Created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, Preacher lasted a total of 77 issues, which released from 1995 to 2000 on DC Comics' Vertigo imprint that was targeted to mature readers. The comic book followed the adventures of a small Texas town preacher, Jesse Custer, who is possessed by a supernatural creature named Genesis that was created by the union of a demon and an angel. Custer travels through the United States in search of God, who has abandoned Heaven, and is joined in his quest by his old girlfriend Tulip and an Irish vampire named Cassidy. Caruso, who was previously attached to the apocalyptic Vertigo comic Y: The Last Man, told Comic Book Resources why Preacher appealed to him.

I like those because I think there's something, as cool and as f**king gnarly as they are, there's a great sort of core good vs. evil. The Genesis [in Preacher] being the mating of the angel and the Devil in a way; I love that kind of stuff. I love big themes, things like that. For me, it's something that I love and I read, but Y: The Last Man and Preacher are the two that I like a lot [for film potential treatments].

With only Caruso's announcement to go on, details are scarce. Whether August's screenplay will still be used or when Columbia is looking to release the movie is unknown. What Preacher does have is a director, which means that fans of the comic may see an adaptation sooner than later.

As long as Neil writes the script and Dave McKean does practically everything else, we'll be good.
So, yeah, it would suck.

I don't have my Overstreet Guide handy, but I think there were a dozen issues, but not more than that, I suspect.

They had a brief high-profile moment when they did a crossover with TMNT. The creators of ARBBH were unstinting in their praise of Eastman and Laird and were rewarded with having their characters show up on a couple of pages of the Turtles (IIRC). Then they sank back into well-deserved obscurity.
