Today we hosted a dinner party with a mix of gamers and non gamers. One thing we noticed is that we don't own many filler games, games that are quick to set up and play in under 30 minutes. Any recommendations?

This is my current collection http://www.boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/yoshibishi

They should be light. Incan gold and monopoly deal are a couple that we use as fillers currently. Games with only 2 people are welcome as well since a majority of the guests were busy chatting and mingling.

Thanks in advance!

Tumbling Dice. Can hold 2 players well. You can add more dice for more players. And the game can last until a score is reached or a time limit.

It is very fun and very simple.

Circus Flohcati and Frank's Zoo are good card-based fillers that meet your criteria.

The resistance is the best filler game I've played in years. Plays kind of like Mafia but better. You wont regret buying it!

not for two players, but my all time favorite filler game is

FOR SALE

Fillers are necessary at larger game events so that folks can wait to mix with another table that's not done yet.

Take a look at Coloretto and Tsuro. You probably will have problems finding it, but I've always enjoyed Suitors.

IMO the finest filler there is. Though the price can be a bit high for a filler.

Most of these are good. I think for classy parties, Tsuro is one of the most elegant games you could play (for 2 to 8 or 10 players I think).

I'll second For Sale and Tag 6 (Slide 5, Category 5, 6 Nmmt).

Nerts (with regular decks of cards) and Liar's Dice are cheap quick games.

Ca$h 'n Gun$ is a fun, light, quick game. Any of the common, small Z-Man/Rio Grande type card games (Coloretto, Archaeology, Saboteur, No Thanks!, Fairy Tale, Guillotine) go over well. Wits & Wagers is a great 30 minute or less party game that non-gamers and most gamers appreciate. It's really the only trivia game I like.

Loopin' Louie and Crokinole are also really, really fun.

Roll Through the Ages is a great 20 to 30 minute dice game.

Eruption takes a little longer but is easy to learn and is a board game instead of just cards or dice.

Besides the handful of posters who clearly haven't looked at your collection link, games that are good for what you are asking are:

High Society
Lascaux (I like it more than No Thanks!)
Biblios (Awesome drafting/bidding game)
Coloretto
Botswana
Kingdoms

A couple of good 2 player fillers would be:

Jaipur
Battle Line
Lost Cities
Haggis

You have to keep in mind that game time is affected by many factors including number of players, but more importantly, how long each player takes to do their turn.

Mr. Jack Pocket. Plays in 15-20 minutes and muchly enjoyable. I compare it to Tic_Tac_Toe only colorful, enjoyable, bit more depth, and doesn't end in a tie.

Biblios is a better For Sale that works equally well from 2-4 players.

Fairy Tale is the precursor to 7 Wonders that can play in 15-20 minutes once you get the rules down. Scales well from 2-5 though for lower player counts you should adopt some of the variants in the forums
