I've rarely seen the points for land and cities be absolutely correct at the end of the game. To handle that we've tracked silver and land points separately on the track, and that seems to work, but I've come up with an idea on how to record points for silver in a way that is a little more satisfying.

Now I'll just be handing out tokens for silver, and having the option of people keeping the silver in a bag. This will add a little bit of hidden scoring to the game and keep silver off the scoring track all together. If the players prefer for silver points to be not secret they just won't us the bags.

That's a good idea, and offers another way to bling out your game. I'm not a fan of hidden information that was public at some time, but like you said, there's no need to use the bag if you don't want to.

Yeah, hidden information doesn't have to be hidden.

That's not surprising, when you realise that your score goes down when you lose spaces to other's expansion, but not in the same way as you scored when you created or expanded regions. Unless you keep track of the result of each expansion, the final score will not directly correlate to the final regions.
