These are my two favorite games. Would be cool if Magic cards could be used the same way as Thunderstone. Would make for a good solo game.

You know the horde variant? That makes for a fun solo game.

You can increase the difficulty by adding more tokens.

If you want a more varied experience, try taking a cube (or just use your excess cards mixed together). Each time you would draw a card, instead draw N and keep one, exiling the others. N should probably be either 2 or 3. I'm not sure.

For the opening hand, maybe draw 14-21 and keep any 7.

You'll need to mix in lands with the cube.

I wonder how much work it would take to adapt existing cheapo magic cards to emulate a Thunderstone set.

I'd go with Power = +attack, Toughness = Strength

So Militia would be 1/2 creatures (like Norwood Ranger)
Dagger would be a +1/+0 Aura, like The Brute
Iron Rations would be a +0/+3 Aura, like Spider Climb
I would suggest mana-producing artifacts as light sources.
Torch: a 3-cost that produces 1 Mana, like Darksteel Ingot
Lantern: a 4 cost that produces 2 mana, like Sisay's Ring

To cover off so many other factors, like Coin Value, Coin Cost, VP, Exp, you'd probably have to resort to scribbling on cards... there's just too many variables that Magic doesn't readily provide.

I started to lay it out. Picked all the strong demons, spirit, vampires and such for dungeon and human for village along with instants, enchantment, and artifacts for village. Have not quite worked out manna.
