I'm sorry, but hers is the only story I care about at all in the Song of Ice and Fire. Is there anybody here with sufficient pull to get HBO to just ignore the rest of Martin's blather and stick to that plot line? Thanks in advance!

No kidding. I think she was the only character that got me through the several hundred pages of Cersei's shenanigans in A Feast of Crows.

I've not read the books nor do I plan on doing so. Her plot line in the show seems the most exciting at times. Shes certainly clever:
Spoiler (click to reveal)
The bluff she pulled on Tywin Lannister concerning where she was from was excellent. I got the impression she pulled a random place out of her ass on purpose so that her 2nd answer would be believed.

Although her brother at home and his relationship with the Wildling woman is very interesting to me, Im curious what role he's and she's going to play. I believe I get what his latest vision was:
Spoiler (click to reveal)
To me it was House Grayjoy's raiding fleets coming since it involved flooding.

I was very fired up about Khaleesi's plotline in the first season, (and since I didnt know how the books went) the season finale was awesome. So far this season shes just biding her time; I have a feeling that will change as the season nears its end.

Overall Im impressed.

Daenerys is going through a growth and character development period. There will be highs and lows for her, she needs to find her direction and run with it. There will be many stops along the way. The Red Waste and Qarth being the first two. The House of the Undying seems like the next stop on her journey.

Arya's story is one of the most developed in the books, one of my favorite characters in the series.

If you are reading the books. then you know full well she will likely be killing off a few of our least favorite characters before the story winds its way to the end.

What, bump up Arya's screen time at the expense of character development, focus, plotting, and extremely important story line of Ros??? No thanks.

Not reading this thread for fear of spoilers (just finishing up Clash of Kings), but yeah, Arya freaking rules. I do enjoy Dany's story as well. Looking forward to Jon's story in book 3.

Ah, but isn't the entertainment value gained from Arya staying under the radar & maintaining a low profile directly connected to and dependent on the very larger array of other more visible war storylines & political machinations that you claim to derive no enjoyment from?

I love the marshmallows in Lucky Charms, but if it were all marshmallows I wouldn't love them nearly as much, if at all.

You're a tad confused. It's not a matter of Lucky Charms being all marshmallows, it's a matter of all the marshmallows in Lucky Charms being the only ones that matter: Green Clovers. You'd still have all that oat bullshit floating around in your bowl, making the Green Clovers stand out.

In any case, we all know that none of the others' stories are even close to as compelling as her journey thus far, so there's no need to hide behind breakfast cereals.

Arya and Tyrion are definitely my two favorite characters. I've only just begun watching the HBO stuff on disk, but I love Arya in the books. (In fact, one of our kittens has earned the sobriquet of "Phoebe Underfoot".)

Are you admitting to being George R.R. Martin? Because unless you know something he doesn't, don't go around proclaiming stuff you can't yet prove.

I have seen nine episodes of season one. (read all the published books).

One concern I have is the
Spoiler (click to reveal)

relationship between Renly and the Knights of Flowers. I really like the Brianna character and it may be difficult to work her in.

Otherwise, the story seems very close to what I recall from the books. There are some omissions, but no major changes. (And I am probably missing some with my increasingly porous memory.)

Scott, I'm pretty sure you don't like Brienne of Tarth's character as much as you say you do, if you can't even remember her name! Of course she's just a Yellow Moon, so not that important.

You know, Martin is seriously warped:

Spoiler (click to reveal)
Tyrion's nose
Jaime's hand
Bran's mobility
Varys' balls

Maybe if he spent less time on that, we could get a move on with the plot.

Spoiler (click to reveal)
Like how the f--- long is he going to make us wait? Until Daenerys' dragons get big enough to accidentally inhale her or what?

Well to be fair, I haven't read any of them since Book 4 was new. I did listen to all of them and I did spell it close to phonetically...
