Woodworking is a skill best developed with practice. Here's a great book of practice box projects that each builds on previous skills. It will also teach you a lot about making boxes so you can design one that will work well for your project.

Start,
make many mistakes,

start again on another box,
make fewer mistakes,

start again,
repeat...

Ask specific questions when you have them.

Good Luck!

I will say though that you could try designing and building a box from cardboard and tape first. Test it out with your game and redesign as needed. Once you've done this, begin on the real box.

(Oh and I wasn't kidding about that first part. Experience is the best teacher.)
