You've made me hungry, and I've just finished my breakfast.

I love dim sum. My favorite are shrimp dumplings (har gow).

I LOVE me some Dim Sum. Great with a group of friends. I'm part Chinese and so I'm not afraid of things like Beef Tripe (which I love) or Chicken Feet (which I don't especially like). For standard fare, Pork Shu Mai (a type of dumpling with a pretty hard skin) are always a hit and I always recommend Xiao Lung Bao (Shanghai dumpling) it's pork and got a hot broth on the inside. I make my own Xiao Lung Bao filling, though it's too hard to make the skins. And pointless, since they're cheap enough.

Two of my daughters are intolerant of soy and spy products*. Consequently I don't get to have Yum Cha anywhere as often as I used to.

* supposed to be "soy products" but I thought the mistype was too awesome to correct.

In L.A.'s Chinatown, there's no shortage of dim sum.

While most go to the big, trendy spots, like:

http://www.oceansf.com/dimsum.html

I like the tiny, hole in the wall places, where portions are larger...and cheaper...but of no less quality. My favorite is Long's Family Pastry:

Not a large menu of dim sum, but very fresh and incredibly affordable.

Damn! I think I'm going on a trip downtown tomorrow.

I love the dumplings, the eggplant offerings, and the sticky rice in the lotus leaf.
