I learned about Gollnow the hard way. I've played Friedrich a fair bit with my kids, but recently a third time with an adult gaming group. As the Russian player, I engaged in a major battle in clubs which depleted that suit for both of us. The Prussian general then moved to Gollnow.

The realization hit me -- Gollnow, in diamonds, is not adjacent to any other diamond cities. So I faced the prospect of having to fight his healthy suite of diamond cards with my devastated clubs. Not only that, but the general in Gollnow defended both the Swedish objective of Cammin and the Russian objective of Colberg.

Kaaaahhhhnnnn!

Fate favored me, and I managed to win a few turns later. Lesson learned.

I see they made a fix to the Anniversary Edition Board.

yes, Gollnow was fixed in the anniversary edition. It proofed to be a too mighty "fortress". Therefore the fix was needed.
