I skim. Really just want to get my mitts on the game. Updates are great, but having it in hand is the only way to satisfy.

Alrighty, thanks for the feedback. I was just curious. Cause I know I read about 10% of the gunship ones so I was wondering if that was the norm.

Honestly haven't looked at the KS page for a long time. If the updates were also posted here on BGG I'd certainly read them everytime they are posted, but I rarely travel outside this site for gaming-related reading/research

Edit: Damned typos! I wasn't calling you "honey", Matt! Lol

I'd love to read them, but can't as they are backers only. I am getting a copy through a bundle deal, but I am not the person who is down as a backer on KS.

Hi all!! It has been a few weeks since the awesome Fleet finale and we (the imperial we that is, Ben and I are not doing anything. It is all the awesome guys and girls over at Gryphon/Eagle working hard now) are starting production! There is nothing else for the rest of us to do now except wait, wait some more, keep waiting, then finally wait - well and enjoy the summer of course.

Once production is completed and we have an imminent delivery date, a kickstarter survey will show up in your email asking for your address and all that jazz. Those that have backed other Kickstarter projects might have expected the survey shortly after the end, but Gryphon/Eagle likes to wait until closer to production to ensure the shipping info is the latest and greatest so expect that sometime in August-ish. Meanwhile, if you are interested in how a game goes from successful Kickstarter to showing up at your door, read the very informative, very awesome "What now" blurb below that was passed along to me and I paraphrased.

When we get any exciting news, we will pass it along, but we will not bother you all too much over the next few months. Feel free to contact us on Kickstarter, over at BGG, or via email @ ridbackgames@gmail.com. We would love to hear from you!

-Matt and Ben

Production!

So, I figured, with computers and all, these guys just had to upload some files, hit print, and wait for the bajillions of dollars to roll in. Well, while the magic of the interwebs has made things a bit easier, there is still a TON to do and a VERY good reason to why September is the answer (besides "42" of course) to the most commonly asked question, "Why the (insert colorful word of choice here like errr dog-gone-it) does it take so long? I want to play Fleet NOW."

Here are the steps of production:

Get Eric to do his awesome print-ready files for the production facility.

Check those files over for mistakes (I realize those of you who know us personally may find it hard to believe, but Ben and I screwed a few things up. I mean, not THAT many things obviously, but a few).

Fix those mistakes and hope Eric doesn't hate us for making him do ANOTHER change that someone smarter than us caught (Joanne for example)

Send mistake free files to production facility where they do ummm stuff that production facilities do

Wait

Get white samples. These are the cards, box, bits and insert but white (hence the name). We get to make sure it all fits together. The insert, BTW, is the thing in the box that holds all the components in place. We are getting a neato custom one that will hold all the cool Fleet stuff safe and sound in case you want to store it vertically or haul it to a wedding to play when you are one of the rejects at table 9 (the leftover table).

While all that is going on, there is working with production to set up the logistics of the different versions (and quantities) of Fleet:

The Kickstarter maxed out, awesome version

The base version which is still pretty awesome

The little extras bags that can be bought by those that want a 2nd set or people who were too lame to back the Kickstarter (BUT no Salvage Yard, too bad for them) but realized posthumously the error of their ways

The Wharfside Casino (coming to the BGG store!)

AFTER ALL THAT, we get digital proofs that we have to check again and make sure everything is right so we do not go to production with "Labstairs License". Once we get back to the production facility that everything looks good, we get in the queue. This is because Gryphon/Eagle uses really good factories and sometimes other people want to use them too and even though we tried "But this is Fleet!" we will still have to wait in line. We could shave a few weeks off going with Uncle Cletus' printing and bait, but decided to pass.

Then, a really cool thing happens. Real, actual, cards, rules, and boxes show up. We get to read them, play with them, hold them. That is going to rule.

We approve the physical samples and the factory prints lots of Fleet. Then Fleet teleports* to a warehouse in KY and gets shipped to you!

*teleports OR boats, trucks, planes, trains, and automobiles, load and unload, customs, containered, sorted, post officed, and checked.

And there is NO WAY any part of that goes wrong! There is games 101 and why September is really far away, but not THAT far away.

Meanwhile, Ben and I are finishing game #2 and planning endless sequels for Fleet!

Thanks again to all and see you at Origins!

Is there any "breathing" room with the insert to account for sleeving? I can't remember if this had been addressed earlier by myself or not? Thanks for the super informative update though, 4 months to go! arrrh

Every single one. And many of them have convinced me to back a project (or not). I often read all the backer comments too.
