or the other way around (since this game came out much earlier)is Lords of Vegas anything like acquire?
I haven't played either of these games but it seems to me that there are some similarities on both, for example both boards have a "grid" on them with numbers and letters (F7, A3, G5, etc), in both games you build buildings (hotels/corporations/casinos) and make them grow, also you can take over other buildings (or remodel them).
I'd like an honest opinion, does this game feel something like LoV? I've been on the fence on which one to buy but since I don't like the latest cardboard version of acquire, I'm leaning towards LoV. but... does Lords of Vegas scratch the same itch as Acquire?

For what it's worth, I didn't think of Acquire a single time when I played Lords of Vegas. The games may have superficial similarities, but that's it.

(And for the record, I found Acquire to be a much better game!)

no both games are definitely different. Lords of Vegas is focused around the dice and thus there is a random factor there (especially if you force a reroll) whereas Acquire the only random portion is which tiles you may get and of course what the players do. Acquire is more a stock management game and I feel more math-y than Lords of Vegas. Do read the reviews on Lords of Vegas and Acquire as they give you a much better idea what each game does.

Personally I like em both, but they scratch different itches.

There are definitely some similarities and even parts that "feel" the same (the corporate/casino takeovers), but the random factor in LoV is huge in comparison to Acquire.

If you like playing (and setting up) the odds, rolling dice and wild swings of luck (hey it's a game about Vegas) go with LoV. If you like a bit more of a stately game and fixed determination of reward for good strategy go with Acquire.

I think I will be getting LoV since it seems to be more fun. Acquire might be the better game but for me fun is a determining factor, and I don't like at all the current cardboard version of the game.
Maybe in the future when a better production of the game is released I'll get Acquire.
Thank you guys.
